Welcome Karamchand and Kitty though we miss Sushmita Mukherjee as she is replaced by a new actor. We wish all the best to both the Pankajs. Good ol' days or should I say Yesterday once more!! Hey! nobody has mentioned Intejaar, Adalat, Guest house, Torch light etc.
I loved watching the serials that you have all mentioned below. We used to sleep quite early and were allowed to see hardly 2 programmes in a day. Few of the serials missing in the list. Science quiz programme 'quest'. I remember Dr.Bagchi and Dr. Ghosh conducting scientific experiments and was awed by them. Also, a quiz programme conducted by Sidhartha Basu. I remember two guys from IIT Kanpur winning the contest. Also there was my favorite show 'Lucy Show' which used to come, I believe at 8.30 pm or so..I used to ask my parents to wake me up during the show. We used to eat early and sleep by that time.. Those days were so nice.... I can add few more serials to the list Reporter Wah Janab Yeh Jo hai Zindagi is my all time favorite..

Can u tell me which company has released the DVD of the series?? Also is it available in India??
Current TV serials are all time low in quality of entertainment. I started investigating reason for this.
Once multiple channels entered into TV market, they soon realised that they have to position themselves into market as children's, womens, action, movie channel. starTV decided to target women serials as they are larget TV viewer. They also decided to show daily soap so that they are on every TV across whole india from monday to thursday. Other TV channels soon realised importance of this segment and started changing their strategy.
There is nothing wrong having women oriented programs, but current women oriented TV serials follow few things which make them low grade entertainment.
1. camera over all faces again and again 2. short story stretched for long time 3. low grade script & story 4. bad direction & acting
These things are happening because story writers are under pressure to write story for daily soap compare to weekly serial. A story which would run over a year runs out in a month when displayed daily. So they have to use other gimmics to stretch same story over many episodes. Story used over whole length of episode normally written for 5 minute length only. Actors caliber is major problem. All actors look same and I believe they are not given enough time to prove themselves. Even very high caliber actors act same like new comers. Sony provided some relief with its other kind of serials like boogie-woogie, hospital, aahat, CID etc which help to position them little different. But that is not enough. I dont see any innovation which I can appreciate as a viewer. Either they make low-grade serial or make serial by using licence from overseas program makers for example: nach baliye, KBC, kamjor kadi, Big Boss, Indian idol and so on... Come on... you cannot take us on ride forever. Wake up and change before we all throw you out. I believe Ekta Kapoor type serials time is up. I can see highest list of quality programs came up on Doordarshan. They should take lead again and produce real quality programs.

It is true.Ekta Kapoor must retire now or shift to some other business. Her serials are simply headless creations.

Mr.Yogi was fabulous man - It was one of my favourites. Mohan Gokhale who acted as Yogi unfortunately passed away at a relatively young age. Those old DD days.
Does anyone know if the old DD stuff like Mr.Yogi is available on VCD/DVD ?

Its nostalgic to be part of this forum. Kaaafi saare yaad taaza hoogaye.
Karamchand was among the best serials having perfection in direction and acting.
To add few more serials (Almost all serials during 80-90s were excellent) some of the best were khiley ka rahasy, fauji, vikram betal, yogi, neev-All these serials were so inspiring. We grew up seeing these serials. But what do we have today for our children. The saas-bahu/bhabhi-xtramarital affair.... God save our new generation.
Eagerly awaiting for Karamchand in specific or will be happy to see the television getting rid of EKTA KAPOOR- THE RAKSHASHI OF INDIA & IN FAMILIES.
