Ya-renuka sahane was one of the most frsh faces on T.V back then and now-just look at some of her pics, post marriage to Mr. Ashutosh Rana-even looking at the way the once perky actress dresses up now makes one feel that she's been controlled by a regressive Ashutosh!-seems to've put a full stop to all her spontaneity and her career.
not all were gr8 but majority were, here chk this out and mention the ones i have missed. http://shashankchauhan.blogspot.com/2006/03/serials-on-doordarshan.html

There was another good one. Aisa Bhi Hota Hain. There was a hostess who became very famous. I think her name was Monica
Also, Kachi Dhoop starring Bhagyashree. During that time, there was only DD...so we all saw it and loved it.
It is good nostalgic feeling. Wish there was a time machine which would take me back and I would be able to spend 6-8 hours like a carefree kid...Playing around with my friends of that time with games like gully cricket, marbles, chupa-chupee
Thanks PP for creating Karamchand at that time. Because of Karamchand-2 we all are having this wonderful discussion reminiscing the good old days of DD television.
And who can forget the daily feed of Hammey Dekhna hain, ham dekh rahen hain, ham dekthe rahenge, uski nani yadd dilalege lines of our Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi in DD news. God rest his soul. Because of him IT revolution started in our country much before any other country in the developing world.

Yeah, That serial was called subah and it used to be telecast on wednesday afternoons. it was damn good. the hero looks a bit look like sunny deol, but there was another guy called salim ghouse who was hero's friend who became more famous. he acted in a few films aswell after that. subah ended after 13 episodes, which was the norm those days, but after a year or so, they made a sequel to it, didnt call it subah 2 or phir subah but something very different. salim ghouse had a bigger role in it, he becomes the drug addict, hero gets rehab and so on. it wasnt half as interesting as the original. there was another serial on college campus, where they showed how to cheat by putting slips in the sleeves and college elections and stuff like that. Another one on residential school called neenv whose producer was the motu in jo jeeta wohi sikander.
This is the best thing which happened in the Indian television history. Thank you rediff for giving some space on ur website... I'm getting emotional now guys... Best of luck to all the people who are/were behind Karamchand.
That's indeed a good news for us to see interesting serials like Karamchand is going to be back on small screen. Enuf of those Ekta Kapoor's stupid drama's which are as stupid as the writer is, depicting things that happens in family's like hers. The channels should make better effort in launching similar serials like Karamchand which the childrens can watch too and not those imaginative stupid family drama's.
I have always felt proud of the fact that i was of a generation when every household used to enjoy TV - Great Programmes. I bet all of us even used to wait to watch the 8:45 Hindi samachar and 9:30 English News. The music before the samachar was synonymous of the fact that it was time we sat in front of TVs. waiting for Chitrahaars on Wednesdays and Fridays was so cherished. I am glad that todays generation is atleast getting a glimpse of our great days through karamchand. Hope this marks a beginning of quality programmes on TV. I think Ekta Kapoor and co. should go for good. They have had their share under the sun.
I really get emotional after reading the messages regarding Karamchand along with other old good serials. It shows still there are so many people present to see good serials unlike Ekta's Sas bahu type family broken serials
