Great Work CD and Saisuresh
by mohd gulrez khan on Aug 13, 2007 10:53 PM  | Hide replies

The writer in this article has done a great job. I really admire the fact that he has noticed such small things and related it to the situation a Muslim faces today. We are sick of people looking at us as terrorists .... Grow up guys , time is running out and we need to catch with the world ............. Chak De India !!

@Mohd gulrez,
I like your patriotism for India.We really admire those who worships his country.Why Kalam has the greatest respect irrespective of his religion. No body bothers about his religion and he hs like the father of nation.People from your community have to come forward and say it proudly.

PuttIndies SorryPlease

Why? Citizenship is by default -- whether for a Hindu, Muslim or Christian. It is my personal philosophy that I consider it inappropriate to drape the national flag too tight, to a point where it suffocates. Others like to show their patriotism everyday. This is not war time...remember?

But, whenever I have expressed this opinion, people pull me up for being a traitor, and attribute it to my being a South Indian, socialist, capitalist, manager, whatever...

I can understand how a Muslim feels when somebody breathes down their neck constantly and takes the burden of assessing the patriotism indicator of a Muslim while no such burden exists for a "mainstream" Hindu (the ones not from the South or the border states).

It is people like the writer of this article who create such religious issues! SRK is an actor and that is bottom line whatever his religion and his beliefs should have nothing to do or nothing to reflect in the character he or any other actor plays. I think people like the writer Saisuresh Sivaswamy should be ashamed to be writing articles mixing entertainement with religion and then hypocritically pretending to be well educated, literate and liberal people! People need to learn to judge a person by his action and deeds not by the religion or beliefs he was born or follows. I do request that such articles should be screened before being put online.

the one thing you are missing is that an actor is not a machine that churns out roles at regular intervals.. he/she is human - and yes, does have personal opinions or views or tendencies. How he/she can fit into a role depends on his/her knowledge of the character and how intimately one is involved with the character. And acting out a role that is closer to the actor's own personality definitely produces a much more engaging portrayal than something where the actor feels no connection at all to the character.

SRK is a muslim and yes, Indians are proud of him. The writer wishes to highlight the dilemma faced by almost every Indian muslim, for at the end of the day, they are Indian first and then anything else. And also muslims in India are at a disadvantage because 1)they will always be blamed for everything and 2) their patriotism will always be questioned

The word ACTOR is what you are missing out on... a good actor is one who can portray a role given to him such that its effortless and truly believable, casting aside his/her beliefs on any matter!
And my very point here is, it is such articles that remind you of muslim/hindu etc religions in the first place..putting such conflicts in your very mind. And why would a particular religion be blamed in general??? It should be an individualistic approach! And who is to say who is patriotic and who is not in this very hypocritical society?

Well said Nidhi, you are right. We watch movies or entertainment and to analyse the individuals working in the movie for their persaonal faith & religion. Whatsoever they just play their screen characters as required by the movie and no other reason. Writers or people like this create stories from no where and bias some people. I strongly oppose such writers/journalist who are just creators/innovators of such stupid theories.

SOME MOVIES DO NEED TO BE CRITIQUED AND RIGHTLY SO, WHICH THIS AUTHOR HAS RIGHTLY DONE. CRITIQUING A MOVIE IS AN ART, THE MOVIE NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT UNDER A SCANNER AND IT BRINGS OUT THE SUBTLE NUANCES. I DOUBT IF YOU'D BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THIS WITH YOUR INTELLECTUAL QUOTIENT.

You people don't know how to assess the films. Some people think if songs are good then film also good. SRK can act only with ladies. DDLJ, DPH, KKHH are all ladies picutres.
