The awards have been delayed by an year because one of the jury members Shaymalee banerjee took the matter to court because she disagreed with a few things, primarily awarding Sarika the best actress award for Parzania !!! Hence the delay.

What's troubling is
by on Aug 10, 2007 02:27 AM  | Hide replies

that the entire team of Black failed to mention Miracle Worker. They copied from this movie and stayed mum.

Black by itself was nice and N times better than any general garbage produced by Indian Film industry. But hiding the fact that it was a copy always leads one to believe - chor be dadhi mein tinka.

Hi...What is equally troubling is notions & lack of information !!

"The Miracle worker" is not a fictitious story. It is an adaptation ( First as plays & later as movie) of the life & times of Hellen Keller, a deaf & blind girl( The role played by Rani) and Anne Sullivan, her teacher(essayed by AB). Copies are not permitted in national awards ( or oscars) but adaptations of real life can be done by any number of people.

Surely Richard Attenburrough does not have a copyright on "Gandhi" because he has made a film on him. And surely no Indian needs to mention him or take his permission of he has to make a movie on him. And if it is well made film, he can even expect to get national award for it, without loibbying. :D:D:D

I have read the book, it's called Story of My life. Miracle Worker is largerly derived from the book. However, when you copy the scenes you should reference that. Also, I would recommend you read up on Copyright laws. It will help you refrain from making comments such as the Gandhi analogy you gave.

Hey there...( since there is no name)

You know, giving tasks to people as a way of debating leads the discussion nowhere. ( Like read the book, read copyrights acts, climb everest......if you know the facts lets us know) Because ultimately from your comment I am just unable to take the iscussion any further because it gives no information, just gives tasks....well we will have to let it be then !!!!
Oh BTW, it would be nice to have a name as well !!! :D:D

Ram...

I wonder where the awards are sold !!! I would like to buy a few myself.
I can understand that you appreciate the performances of the one's you mentioned ( And I am sure they did well since they are such able actors), but should you really speak insultingly of others to make your point?

Lobbying? With this present congress govt.? Do you think it is possible for AB?

And Black is not serious drama?
And do you think it is possible to have a civil debate rather than geting personal?

One more feather !!!!
by Srinivas Rao on Aug 10, 2007 12:36 AM

Being a hardcore Big B fan, I will always wish that he should get this award.

But if i put aside this, then personally I think he deserved this for his amazing work in Black.

Besides one should not forget the contribution of Rani Mukherjee and Sanjay Leela Bhansali who made this possible.

national award

Congrats to Big B.In my humble opinion,
Best actor award should have been shared. Mohanlal the close competitor was equally good in the movie "Thanmaathra" where he lived the role of a person with alchemers disease.

Hey Mohan

I like your method of expressing opinion. You differ with the verdict, which is fine, and you do not feel the need to resort to abuses to express your opinion, wonderful !!!

I wish there were more like you who expressed their difference of opinion in the way you have.

I think AB has come to a stage where he enhances the prestige of an award rather than the other way round.......National awards, otherwise seeped in controversy, have honoured themselves by giving the award to AB.

I personally feel that had it not been for the political environment against him, he should have got the Bharat Ratna by now !!!
