Congratulations Amitji,

He did extraordinary in Black, Chinikum, Eklavya and we will see another hights with upcoming movie. He is absolute mass entertainer.
Nobody can claim his status. Truly speaking rajini and Mohanlal may be good actor but 70% Indian don't know even name. He made big name for india. You can see several international award and article on time mag.

What do u mean by "He made big name for india". For your kind information, he is not known outside India. So a better phrase would be "He made big name in india", I mean N India

For your kind information, AB is pretty famous in much of the world. Do not forget, it was BBC UK, that declared him as Star of the Millenium and also do not forget that he was the first Indian actor to have his wax statue in Madame Tussauds in London. So please get your facts right.
P.S - Did you know that once in the 80s, when AB visited Egypt, the president put his personal security for AB? It was a little too much, but it happened.

Congratulations Mr.Bachchan for winning your 3rd National award for best acting. Though I do not agree with the jury panel and let me also add Iam not really qualified to talk about acting competency and measuring or quantifying a performance. Many people do believe you gave a power house performance, in my humble opinion..and this is my opinion..your portrayal of Mr.Sahay bordered on hamming and your way of acting bordered more on over the top bombastic style. I have seen you give much better performances in your previous movies where you got into the character you played and made the hair on the back of my neck stand with your poignant and enigmatic skills. Unfortunately, Black wasnt one of those movies. It focussed more on your shrill voice and showed you were trying too hard to get into a role which required nuance and subtlety. In this context, I think Mr.Mohanlal of whom Iam a fan as much Iam of yours, did a much better job of the movie "Thanmatra". He portrayed the role much more effectively using his eyes, voice, body language to much greater effect and with mesmerizing consequences. The anguish and pain in his voice needs to be seen to be believed. Ofcourse, the story of black is of triumph of human will against great adversities..but thats what it remains as.It is a good movie..but your performance is not your best. You have done much better before. I think this time Mr.Mohanlal can be considered unlucky for not winning the coveted award.

It is stupid to say that he is better among hindi actors. He is one of the best actors ever. When he started acting career, he had to compete with Dilip Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Shatrughan sinha, Vinod Khanna and many more like them. Naseer and Om Puri were always there. Rajni and Kamal weren't successful in bollywood and anyway they are happy with small little world down south. Amir, Ajay, Shahrukh, Anil have done good and still they could never compete with Big B. Started as a star, now Amitabh has developed himself as seasoned actor, which is a big achievement. Otherwise how many actors do so many variety roles as Amitabh has done in last three years (Dev, Khakee, Chinee kum, Eklavya, Sarkaar and many more). Can you compare this Amitabh to the superstar Amitabh (in 80's)? Where others are continuing what they started, Amitabh keeps doing experimentation, specially in last few years. Hats off to you Amitabh!! You are truly a good student of acting!

MohanLal Deserved the Award
by Girish Nair on Aug 09, 2007 07:33 PM  | Hide replies

There were two actors in the final stage competing for the best actor award. MohanLal & Bachchan. MohanLal has given a much subtle performance in 'Thanmathra' than Bachchan in 'Black'. Lal deserved the award.

Yes       MohanLal very much Deserved the Award.

But understand that North Indians cannot accept the fact that South Indians are exceptionally talented compared to them and so now and then
North Indians gets this award to show that they
are up to South Indians.

What else explains the reason for Saif ali khan's selection or Anil kapoor in Pukar?

North Indians just because of their sheer number
always needs to dominate others be it in politics or in Movies or awards

Many a times south Indian actors had got the award, it can be seen that they had truly deserved it (dont take my word watch the movies and decide on your own).

But for north Indians it is always that they need a consideration from the jury.

The above is very much a fact, but the jealous North Indians will not accept it.

And I never thought somebody could win National awards for a non-original film. Black is a copy of "The Miracle Worker", a v bad copy.

So what? He is winning a National award for his acting, and not for the movie. Even though it is a copy, AB still did a great job in it. As for Black being a copy, that question should be directed to the producer and director. I'm sure you were one of many, including me who thinks "The Departed" is a great movie. Its also a copy/remake of a Hong Kong film "Infernal Affairs". So why did Martin Scorcese win the Oscar for Best Director?Again it not about the movie, its about what he did with it. Maybe you should go leaarn how to read and understand the language. Its called Best ACTOR award.
