after giving the national award to saif ali khan that too for a copied and dumb movie like hum tum, the national awards have lost all credibility. Amitabh bachchan should not feel happy about such a biased and meaningless award
To receive a national award Amitabh has to "act" in "Black". But our thalaivar THE BOSS, Rajini is already Black. Hence he don't need a national award.
It is a great honour for Mr.Bacchan.He has been versatile in portraying roles in Black, Cheeni Kum, Eklavya over the last year. One request:Stay away from politicians. Congrats again for this well-deserved award.
It was good to see a completely different movie like 'Black' with no songs, no love story.Basically no 'Hindi filmi' characteristics. Moreover, considering that director Mr.Bhansali after his colorful movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas came up with a completely different 'Black'.Hats off to him for his belief and the brilliant performances taken of Rani.Easily one of her best till date. Congrats Bachanji for the National award you deserve this.
Congrats to the maestro.I had seen 'Black' and enjoyed his performanc.I am sure there have been equally riveting performances over the year by other actors too but that should not take the credit away from Mr. Bachan's act.Keep up the good work Sir!!Looking forward to Sholay-2 and Sarkar-2
BLACK is an imitation of the THE MIRACLE WORKER a great movie of the 60s, sure Bhansali has added some masala, but atleast he should have had the decency to acknlowdege the original. And whats worse the kids performance in the original is mindblowing

Sameer,
As I said earliar, Both "the miracle wroker" & Black are the stories of a real life person "Hellen Keller". Even in India, there are many deaf & blind institues run by Hellen Keller foundation.
And if you remember, the very first frame of the film Black says...This film is dedicated to Hellen Keller. The very first frame.......I think that is honest enough. Don't you think?

Nope. It's not. Some of us demand integrity for our hard earned money. When I pay x amounts to be taken on an intense emotional ride I DEMAND integrity and honesty. So, please do not lower the bar for us.
Read the book - Story of my life - and ye shall find that Black is more lifted from the The Miracle Worker than from the book.

Actually Observer, money paid by a viewer has nothing to do with integrity or honesty. It has to do with the maker who is obliged to acknowledge the source.......I think a viewer hardly bothers if it's lifted from any source as long as he gets his moneys worth.
But having said that, adapting someone's life ( For which there will be numerous sources) and its upto the maker to incorporate whatever he wishes into the movie, it's not as if he has to reference that one particular movie you are mentioning. But thats my personal opinion. If you feel he should have.....so be it.

What does mean? When I pay something I expect honest product. I liked Black until I realized it was a copy and felt cheated.
I'd really recommend reading International Copyright laws. That will help you understand what are the liabilities of the "maker". I am not sure where you hail from but it is common practice in respectable academia to reference all your sources... In the case of Black scenes copied - step by step - should be duly referenced.Y4c

Observer...
The movie is based on a person. Not vice versa...the persons life is not based on the movie. So obviously when two movies are made on the same person, there will be similarities. ( He couldnt have made her lame just to be different can he?) Since incidents of a persons life are same.....it has to be depicted so.
So I am unable to understand this....if you have acknowledged the person....you have done your duty. Obviously one cannot reference/acknowledge everything that has ever been written/filmed about the person !!!
Someone rightly mentioned that Amitabh would be bestowing honour to the award by accepting it. His performances in Black and Cheeni kum have been outstanding. Black simply moves u. Mr Bhansali and Rani are equally deserving. Younger actors need to learn from him.

Well Black is a copy ( or rather a inspired version) of the Miracle Worker, so there is no originality at all. And as far as performance goes, check out the performance of the girl and AnnHathway in that movie. Black will seem ORDINARY in comparision.
