waste of time
by on Apr 19, 2007 01:42 AM  | Hide replies

In current scenario, most people in the world irrespective of country marry only for money, fame nothing else. all these publicity, show off is only for very short period.

if they want to keep their marriage very private, they should get married in some temple with no invitees, no media and donate the marriage expenses in charity for poor people, by that little bit of poverty will get reduced.

Media should cover other important issues rather than celebrity marriages and their personal matters.their marriage is same as others, nothing special.

We readers should avoid writing messages for these kind of news. i was looking for the past so many days these kind of news items, today ended up writing message.

I totally agree!!! Its a shear waste of time to analyse these mega weddings, even though it is proclaimed as a very " private affair".

The fact that so many people are reading this means that people are interested in this event anyway!

I disagree. If marriage celebration is waste of time, what about the time watching cricket? Entire day and the whole India (1 billion) glued to TV with no work being done. What do you call that?

What I mean is this companionship, exchange of comments and bantering is stimulating for some time and recharges you whether you are watching match, attending marriage or reading these messages

Ash - Abhishek Marriage
by Jayant Doshi on Apr 19, 2007 01:05 AM

It seems the phrase 'Abhiwarya' (probably lifted from 'Bennifer' - Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez) is dying down. Interestingly, all expats are commenting about how there are other important things in India than Ash-Abhishek wedding. I have been in US for the past 10 years now, and I can bet that everyone enjoyed the coverage during the Ben Affleck - Jennifer Lopez romance, or the current Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie affair...hell, for that matter, even when a night club dancer Anna Nicole Smith died, there were countless hours of programming dedicated to her....so can some of these expats help understand why they can't seem to understand the hype about indian celebrities.

blame media & ultimately ourselves
by satya chakravarthy on Apr 19, 2007 01:03 AM

Frankly speaking, if we introspect and see the messages on the discussion board, we ought to realise that what Rediff as a website is doing is in its meaning business. its doing the business of reporting(truth/false/absurd etc). They need the number of hits to garner more ad revenue and that is the bottom line. Infact we as individuals are helping Rediff by loggin into their site, reading the junk/news and taking time to have a healthy discussion on the topics.

Does it not sound hypocracy. Yes, we are a democratic nation and we are entitled to our opinions but look who is laughing away to the bank..its Rediff with all the hits and revenue.
