Cry for bann is unfortunate and childish...let the world view an art piece more
by Fr.Cyprian Fernandez on May 19, 2006 08:47 PM

The Davinci code is something that reveals the author's cheap and the day's consumeristic trick to reap 'profits' out of exploiting human sensations. For that Dan uses some novel 'dan-made'ways and means and The church-christ related matters are always much conveneint for that than anythingelse in this world; this is what the history ofchristianity reveals. there had been always this kind of 'attacks and fictious and sensationalised cooked up stories around christ and The church.Still the life of Christ illumines the world more than ever and ever.
the Church officially does not cry for any bann of this film or novel, but only desires that those readers to have a power of descernment to distinguish between facts and fictions, truth and false...This novel itself is labeled as 'fiction'and it is more and enough for the readers to be cautious of.What Tina has brought up in her review has only a something more to guide the readers. If Dan brown has a very serious arguments as such tried in the novel,he could have better put it in a very scientific and academic manner as ground breaking discovery in the area of biblical scholarsship. It is unfortunate that he relied on such fiction.

I don't think marriage or fathering will ever vitiate an idol like Jesus Christ. Reproduction is in nature and thinking of Jesus Christ's crucifixion in the event of his marriage, really, glorifies his sacrifice and only elevates his image.

Further, the review of Ms. Khanna itself is below par and can only be terms as "biased"

Totally Biased
by Satyadeep on May 19, 2006 04:50 PM

Cant say what this writer has against the Davinci code or dan brown, but its clear she's totally against the book.Rediff is a respectable site and it would be nice if the writer dontthrust their thoughts onto the readers. Reputed Websites like Rediff shouldnt give such biased views.
It would have been nice if both the positive and negative aspects of the book were discussed but this article portrays the DaVinci code as a stupid book that has become a hit by chance. There are 40 million or a million more who have read the book and liked it. All of them or not fools. It will be nice if the writers keep their stupid pseudo intellect attitude to themselves.

Pradeep,
Dan'Ludicrous' Brown
by Pradeep, on May 19, 2006 03:32 PM  | Hide replies

It is nothing new to see these kind of distortionists of the scripture.Even in the Bible it clearly mentions about the rise of false prophets and teachings in the days before the coming of Christ.A mediocre novelist can only concoct such theories to earn his bread. This is a good example of mediocrity covered up by sensational rubbish. As for the movie this unwanted publicity is that which will help an otherwise mediocre movie.I even feel it would have been a ploy by the director of the movie .Anyone with a familiar view can contact me denison555@rediffmail.com

whose the ignorant and foolish? i guess you first have to make your research before commenting on Mr.Brown. So far there has been research going on for about 12 centuries and nothing is "conclusive" till date by the researchers who try to disprove the bible. period! so know your facts than jargons like p9 and analyse the true fool.

Dan B vs Tina K
by partha biswas on May 19, 2006 02:46 PM

I dont know what are the basic qualifications to get ones' PAGE on rediffmail. But being amongst the unfortunate who read books, not necessarily the ones' which make noise, is your intention to just ridicule Dan Brown, or the story he has written ? You should ONLY consider the story in Da Vinci, not what other failed books Dan Brown has written. Coming to Da Vinci, there are MANY books written on the matters being portrayed in this novel. May I ask have YOU read anything else on similar lines? Do you KNOW besides Da Vinci, similar and MORE serious researches have been made on this matter? Do you know who or what is P9 ? Have you ever visited Scotland and the other places Brown moulds his story around? To many of us 'Lapis Lazuli" has very old and sentimental values. Or are you from the group of persons who also think, say, that Hitlers torture chambers never existed? Do read a little more on the principle subject that Brown has touched upon. Scholars greater and more knowledgeable than Brown you or I have spent years on this matter. So dont try to just be opinionated. It is no laughing matter, when ones' head is brought out in a platter.Saints and Sinners, Princes and Paupers etal

the film should be closely examined and purged of blasphemous portions making it fit to be screened.
