Banning Vinci
by Kumar Arvind on May 19, 2006 09:11 PM

Why is everyone behaving as if 2000 years of history is going to come crashing down next friday. The figure of Christ and Mother Mary (PIETA) has always intrigued me and the book has only added to the divine aura surrounding the figure of Christ.

Any day i would like to believe in a Christ who was born an ordinary mortal who achieved divine blessing, who continues to be a source of inspiration and hope for humanity. This, I believe is the essence of bible or any gospel.

As far as book is concerned, it was one of the most taut, fast paced intellectual thrillers i have read and looking forward for the movie.

This should not be banned!

It is a work of fiction. There are so many items that are readily available in the markets - but if dissected inappropriately, they could "merit" bans. There are many conspiracies about Jesus Christ - starting from the Yuz Awaz theory and his years in India, the shroud of Turin and his relationship with Mary Magdalene. Let the people decide if it merits a ban. Enough of the double standards - Rediff.com has openly advertised Water on its websites. Why isn't Deepa Mehta taken to task? Why is Ron Howard singled out? Why was Salman Rushdie's book released? Deepa Mehta relishes making movies that show India in either queer or shambolic light. Websites mark the anniversary of Operation Bluestar, yet they never mention the Jallianwalla Baug massacre. Everything in the world has negative sides to it. If you start curbing freedom of information, then do it uniformly. Do not do it with the intention of bagging minority votes!

Da Vinvi Code should be banned.

I do not understand why there is attack on Christians and their faith. If one does not believe, let him be so but why should he/she hurt the feelings of christians? Is it only for commercial value? My hope is the Lord and He will see to it.

Banning books, movies, etc doesnt ensure anything.
Can we preven Death if we ban all literature on that subject?

When the book was not banned, which turned out to be best selling novel, why should the film be banned. why can't we look at it as a work of fiction and enjoy it. Actually all this controversy will only help the producers as people alway get attracted to controversial film or books.....

Should da vinci code be banned
by Narender Mattoo on May 19, 2006 02:49 PM

Well I don't think the movie should be banned in india and should be released without cuts.
If the movie like water could be produced & released in India and that too without any consultation from hindu preists why this time the consultatios were taken from the heads of other religion.
regards,
Narender Mattoo

i don't understand why this question has arrived. where was all this secularism when it on hinduism. if peaple were so influenced by films. so it is better for them not to watch. i think peaple follow their followers in order to show others otherwise there is no difference between christ married or unmarried. u'r following him due to his deeds not vcoz he was unmarried. so why does it hurt peaple's sentiment

It's just a movie anyways

The book is written by a Christian, the producers are christian, the actors are christian, the film is released in US and Europe which are predominantly Christian. Why is this problem in India????

Politicians in India have been propogating pseudo secularism over the years and this has led to Christians, muslims etc being put on a pedestal. Why wasnt any action taken against MF Hussain when he painted Goddess Saraswathi in the Nude. It was passed off as art. Why double standards this time??

This country will continue to have double standards till the Nehruvian mindset doesnt go out of the politicians of the country. These dirty politicians are all the same. They have divided the people across religious and casteist lines and have set up one against the other. This is a country of Hypocrites, thats the truth.
