Ban Da Vinci??
by Tasungtetla Z Longkumer on May 18, 2006 10:40 PM

If the author Dan Brown says the novel 'Da Vinci Code' is a work of fiction, and the movie is based on it, then why is there all the fuss?? I am a Christian and i have read the book and have thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to watch the movie.
Infact, after reading the book, i got curious and i read and read the Bible through looking for clues and hints and it made me more aware of my religion. And now after readind the book, my faith has not been shaken. So let go of your insecurities, fellow christians and learn from the book as well as the movie and enjoy it!
I think a Ban on the movie just shows the insecurities of the Christians, so if your faith is strong, why worry?!

Unwarranted debate!!
by Anand on May 18, 2006 09:43 PM

In my opinion, even a debate, whether the movie should be banned or not, is unwarranted. It goes to show how backward we are in religious equality and secularism. We use secularism as it suits our convenience and continue to pander to minority sentiments. A movie is just that - a movie, a piece of fiction. Let people take whatever message there is from the movie. We should break free of this dirty habit of self censorship and falling prey to religious dictation of media policies. A progressive country which India claims it is, should be confident in its people and religion that it should not worry about one stray movie (in their view) to make such a profound impact. I am sure a religion that has survived this long with the largest following in the world can definitely live with a propaganda of a 3 hour movie!

I think the bottom line is the minority community fears that this movie might have a negative impact on their conversion efforts by biasing people away from their religion. Rest assured this ain't going to happen because most of the conversion efforts are directed at socially and economically deprived peoples who are highly unlikely to watch a hollywood movie anyway!

Don't Ban! Ban /No Ban the film will always be seen thru illegal CD's

Human beings have always sought ways & means to seek attention, make a fast buck & achieve popularity in a short lifetime. Religious issues have always been perhaps the most rapid & convenient means to achieve mass attention. Mr. Dan Brown who is otherwise a decent salaried writer and the small time film makers have used this formula to achieve their goal of making some million bucks. There is no dearth of such great people around us. Maybe, Mr.Dan Brown capitalizing on his success formula will have two more young wives ala Mr. Rushdie, enjoy luxuries, awards & wealth enough for his next generation to survive. What are such people's contribution to you , me & the world?. This world only remembers or honours the selfless great men who walked the earth contributing value, influencing the order/ faith in a erstwhile chaotic world. Religious orders found by such great men still flourish. People like Mr. Brown & issues like Da Vinci Code have come & passed just like clouds in the sky. Whatever the challenge, amazingly human race has the wise & distinct instinct to identify good from evil, right from wrong and the truth from falsehood. And ultimately Truth & Goodness Triumphs.
