Please learn to handle the media like SRK
by Lalitha.S on Apr 02, 2006 08:29 AM

Thi message is from a loyal fan and I surely hope he reads it.Mr. Khan I've loved your films[except for the odd MELA orDIL;even liked MANGAL P for itsgood intentions].Many of the things youv'e said about the media are totally true--one can't watch Aaj Tak or Star News without wanting to throw up.But surely a section of the media-eg. NDTV,Filmfare[of late]etc. have been fair to you.Should you not ponder over such support before you speak? Anyway I've always enjoyed your interviews[esp. the tehelka interview of Aug.13--still have it] and I do hope you learn to treat the media diplomatically like SRK.He plays the media like a violin and has them eating out of his hands! All the best for your career, personal relations and of course relations with the media.By the way why did you send legal notice to TOI group so unnecessarily? It's the Magna group[Stardust, society] that[ as far as I can see] has been tearing you apart.

Freedom !
by Nischal Kumar on Apr 02, 2006 01:59 AM

I extremely feel very sorry with whatever is happening in India. After reading Mr.Khan's interview on Tehelka, i thought about his view's placing myself in his shoes. Even i would be and still very much get offended if somebody would try to interfere in my Personal life and make it public just for their benefits. He might be a famous personality, before that he is a human being and he has all the rights to decide for himself. People should place themselves in the other person's shoes before they comment anything about them.
" Mr.Khan i really feel very sad for whatz happening with you ! Am sure that you would handle it very well. Well, thatz LIFE ".

Leave Aamir Alone!
by yingchuk\\ on Apr 02, 2006 12:46 AM

I believe thsat Aamir Khan is one of the best actor in the bollywood. He has a very good taste in movie. I agree what Aamir is saying. Media in India is getting worser and worser. They should remember their culture and stop being so mean... Aamir is a very self-conservative type of guy. He likes being far from the media, then let him be. Don't indulge in his private life. Why would aamir lie about not giving an interview? I think he is telling the truth. and by the way, Rang De basanti is one of the finest Indian movie I have ever seen in my entire life. The movie in a way does tell the truth. It's a great inspiring movie for today's generation. it represents how history repeats. And among the youngsters, there are the image of great revolutioner in us. So, I love that movie and people should stop complaining and face the true fact.

A monster named Media!
by Vidya Ramanathan on Apr 01, 2006 10:09 PM

Well one can't but agree with Mr. Khan. Why, this evey news site promoted his new movie so much but when it came to shedding light on the very incident the movie was based, all we saw was a small mention which didn't even make it to the top stories!
The IAF has lost 54 MIG planes and it the last 6 yrs, making it an everage of 9 planes a year! How about doing an extensive research on it and finding a cause for it and informing the people about it? Isn't it what the media is supposed to do, go out in conquest of the truth?
I agree that viewers and subscribers are very important to any media, print, TV or internet based, but they must not forget their fundamental responsibility in the prospect of attacting new viewers.
I get to read a lot about the common Indian junta from newssites like the BBC, incidents and events that never get mentioned in any of the Indian news sites!! All the Indian news sites are to offer are about B'wood! Frankly I don't think anybody gives a damn about whos dating who, and whos divorcing whom!

aman dwivedi
dead right in his interview.
by aman dwivedi on Apr 01, 2006 08:48 PM

what Aamir said is the real face of media.some of you alleging him for infiltrating in wrong territory, but is'nt he a citizen of India?or a celebrity does not have right to express his or her views on grave issues?i think their comments are more important for society as they can influence a big part of society by their opinion.it is high time media got its prioritite right.problem with the media is their too much of closeness to politicians and other influential persons that affects neutrality of the news.Sonia Gandhi's portrayal as 'Laxmi Bai' shows Hindustan Times inclination and person liking than any other thing.what media has forgotten that its work is to present the facts and events as they are and let people decide what is right or wrong.but instead they are distorting and twisting things to suit their own ideology.this tendency is dangerous as it can tear society in many parts.
hope if an AAMIR KHAN'S views can alter the worsening situation.

Media is Damaging Country
by Vijay on Apr 01, 2006 08:22 PM

AAmir is damn right.... This media and particularly the TV channels are not only destroying the society by this absurd reporting but also destroying our country by reporting senseless imagination-. Can somebody judge the damage that has been done by the TV channels reporting from J&K and as AAmir rightly says, they would do anything to sensationalise their news and put special effects, dramatics, Kader Khan Type Dialogues and a freightning background music and mix it with their Breaking News. Anything like a Grenade Attack or a firing somewhere is put in such a way as if Pakistan has attacked.... on the other hand see Door Darshan... they atleast report honestly and without playing trumpets.... The agony is that with Every Breaking News, every channel claims that they are the first to air this news... Competition / what else / they have to sell and to sustain they would just not stick to ethics of reporting... A restaurant named "Gujarat Restaurant" in Srinagar is a place of firing by militants... The news comes... Gujarati Restaurant attacked,... everybody in India thought that some Gujarati's have been killed... in fact this restaurant is run by a Kashmiri Muslim HOW WAS THAT..

The dumbing down of India
by Sunil on Apr 01, 2006 07:28 PM

Do we live in a command and control world led by the media and the government?
Is our ancient culture drowning in a pool of celebrity drivel?
Will the 90's and 00's be one day judged as a period of inane self-obsession?
What is the true structure of society today?
Whatever you do, you are massively effected by the times that you live in. My question is - what times are we living in? Is this the era of the dumb?
