The article is good and what Aamir has said is the concern for any newspaper reader or TV news viewer. It is difficult to find good articles in newspaper which are actually enlightening based on which one can really form an opinion. In a way society is moving to lower standards than ever where the reader forms judgement and opinions based on the so called 'masala' news. Ofcourse fans look forward to know more about their celebrities but the kind of details provided do not make any sense. There is much more that younger generation needs to be aquainted to through media than bollywood glare and details of who's who and what in the film industry. I think not only the celebrities but a layman also believes in right to privacy and press council really needs to take a look into such acts of media.
Rediff had started out very good in the early days of 97-98 but it is just like other toilet papers as mentioned by Amir. A similar thing was being pointed out by George Klooney in PBS's Charlie Rose show of March 30th, but here in US they have people like his father who never succombed to such pressure. Nor were the protagonists of his fine film 'Good Night and Good Luck'.
It's time for Media to change it's way and its priorities, Media need to be rational and thought provoking helping people think in the right direction instead it has increasingly become a kind of celebrity or masala magazine. We already have enough of masala channele it's time for news channel to be a news channel and provide rational and impartial coverage for news of national interest.
It felt good to hear from "Rang De Basanti" lead on this issue , We can start with this small change in perspective for the revolution India needs in todays time.
