The news media in current world is as bad as can be. Its not news reporting its news making i guess .... one with commercial use written all over it. I hope the media are listening..... we only laugh at their news and after sometime its not even funny anymore.

Think something .......

Dear All
Whatever Amir had said is Right and I agreed to him. Our Media is not doing proper work and they are not layal to thier work.Media forgot the basic Duty of Media.I agreed that what he said abt muslim..I have observed that if something will happened Our Media and our Police politician point out directly towards the Terrorist group and for this they take only half an hour or so without investigation and without going to the root of the cause. I remembered few years ago when there was something happened,Our Media Poilice and Politicion were taking the name of ISI Pakistan.Same is happening now..But I m sure for all incidents and all terror our polictics our media and our police all are responsible and some how we public too..So please think abt this ..what Aamir want to say.I m not an Amir Fan and evern I dont watch his movies but Whatever he said here is really truth abt our media ,politics and Polilce.

ur right but!!!!!!!
by ABHIJIT on Apr 03, 2006 04:47 PM

I too certainly agree withour thoughts and descisons on the media fantasy.
however i still feel that media will remain a key point both to publicise a movie and also to pull it down by whatever means, So you cant stay behind for a longer time and avoid those, rather than you need to build a strategy in handling them side by side.

cheers to u

egg-jacktly!

Way to go Aamir! I can do nothing but thoroughly agree with you.

All the media wants is hype.
The Sympathetic side is always supported and Govt criticized for everything they are not doing...well if public toilets/places are dirty leading to epidemics, who makes them that in the first place???
There are accidents, Police is blamed, not peolpe who flout the rules!
Just small examples...

The Media is so busy blaming everything on the administration that they have forgotten their duty to help educate society and make people more aware as to how they can help improve the nation. As per the media, it is the Govt only who has this job.

There is no constructive information...only destructive news and sympathy with the victim in gallons and gallons.
Instead educate people as to what they should do in order to improve themselves.
Run some informative commercials for a change! But then the moolah reduces...jees...what a dilema???

Nowadays, we see Saas-Bahu on a National News Channel.
Personal squabbles have become part of prime-time viewing where the media channel in mediating a truce in between some family somewhere!
The lesser said the better...

by PRAMOD VAIDHYA on Apr 03, 2006 07:11 AM

Hello,
In the article its written that Aamir Khan is the Indis's highest paid actor. IS THAT TRUE? Please check out your article for flaws before you publish. For your information, RAJINIKANTH is the highest paid actor in INDIA and the second highest paid in ASIA after Jackie Chan. Please dont repeat such mistakes. Another info for u is RAJINIKANTH is the only actor in the world to give successive hits for the past 10 yrs. I read all these statistics in a Sri Lankan website.

{{He thinks 'media barons and top executives are just looking at short term benefits, but in the process they are destroying society.'}} - When I first read this it sounded awkward, though grammatically correct. Here's what he actuall said
See, I feel media barons and top executives are just looking at short term benefits, and in the process they are destroying society. Our loved ones live in this society

defending the terrorists

Amir Khan is a spoiled brat who, as he gets fatter and older, is then trying to turn himself into a stereotypical anti-establishment political activist. He's basically saying that police are corrupt and terrorists are freedom-fighters. I'm tired of this tired old line, which itself is now cliched. How about a break from this stale movie dialogue, Amir?

Aamir Khan is of course growing older like everybody on earth, but not fatter, come on;a few months back he did look slightly Pillsbury doughboy-ish[in the tv many-roled promo for Toyota Innova];but nowadays he looks trim.Anyway with regard to his interview he generally does some plain speaking but ends up going over the top.To an extent he is right--even NDTV is losing the class it started out with.Have just seen a programme where Bipasha Basu cried on screen while thanking a relative for being there in her life. But NDTV also has this programme called innovations[about everyday inventions by ordinary Indians].So I suppose these channels are trying to appease Lakshmi and Saraswati. All other channels mix politics, crime, exposes, cricket, bollywood in varying degrees. The Hindi news channels can be particularly cheesy. As for the newspapers, thank God for the few like The Hindu Indian Express[and maybe even The Statesman,The Pioneer etc.]that are trying to maintain standards. It's a tough job, straddling art and commerce.A word to Aamir-remain a good actor and be diplomatic like SRK.Public personalities cannot afford to be totally anti-establishment like Arndhhati Roy.

role of media
by sid on Apr 02, 2006 12:22 PM

I completely agree with amir's views. The media these days is only interested in sensationalisng things just to get more viwership. However this is a trend which is not ristricted to india alone.

At the same time it is to be remembered the good work which the media has done by sensationalisng jessica lal and other cases and highlighting the rot within our judicial system.

I agree with Amir's views

I totally agree with Amir's stress on the fact that media is being ridiculous in India, expecially news papers and websites like Times of India which is nothing more than a tabloid!!! Sensationalism is the keyword these days and not the fact that our country possess some of the best brains in the world who can truly contribute to the rapid changes happening in the country!!

Information and we
by Shri on Apr 02, 2006 09:27 AM

Aamir has rightly pointed out what all that unnecessary information means to us. That's all about information overflow - most of it we really don't need. In early days it was a pleasure to read a newspaper but now it really doesn't matter much as the kind of news you find is really disgusting. We are so short of national news that the certain illness of an actor or missing dog of an actress makes the headlines in a national newspaper. I had written a blog a lot earlier on this scene. People who are interested may like to take a look on "We and Information"
