Well, only 5000? for a star who earns in crores? Just like he killed a member of an endangered species, he should have been asked to hand over ALL his income to the wildlife associations to eb used for conversion.
Why only 1 year when the punishment was meant to be up to 3 years? Anyway, he won't get this also because he is soon going to the higher courts where the case will drag on for years (the incident happened in 1998). Meanwhile, Pataudi's case is nowhere. His son did not get punishment along with the other stars like Neelam and Tabu, etc. Why were they acquitted?
I am surprised that people are against this judgement!!! Who the hell is salman? He may not exactly be a bad guy but is the law meant only for bad guys? If politicians can get away with murder, it doesn't mean that the common man should also get away with murder. This kind of argument shows disrespect for law and order in its principle.

Good Judgement

Just because politians kill people and they are not nb ooked, does not mean that Salman should be spared. This is silly on Mr.Chinmay to even put forth this argument. Both the politians and Salman should get waht they deserve.

Why sympathy for Salman?
by Vijay Taori on Feb 19, 2006 05:50 AM

This is so sad that people are expressing sympathy for Salman. To me justice have been done though after a long time.

Scapegoat? Get real.

It's about time people starting paying for their transgressions against laws. Aside from the fact that the politicians and judges are all pretty corrupt, I think they're on to something with Salman. Does anyone else see a penchant for violence in this man? It looks like his hobbies include: dealing with the underworld, beating girlfriends and harrassing their families, running over the homeless, drugs and alcohol (which are against his religion), and now you can add killing animals to the list. It seems like nothing stands in the way of Salman's agression. How sad and unfortunate that these are the people who many Indian kids look up to.

Good riddance!

Salman behind the bars - perhaps one of the best things to have happened to the entertainment industry in India!

Salman, Saif, Sanjay (Dutt) et al are busy doing everything other than, what their profession asks them to!

Sanjay escaped being in the slammer for a longer time (and even deserved much harsher punishment) only because of his family's connections - his involvement in the Mumbai blasts is legendary and his going scotfree is a blotch/shame on India's law and order!

at least with Salman's case, let us hope actors stick to doing something sensible onscreen, rather than indulge in doings things that range from the stupid to outright criminal!

On Salman
by Avishek on Feb 19, 2006 01:16 AM

Just wanna say, rules r rules..... the law in india is often treated like a cob web - the small insect's succumb to it while the big once tear it. Good to see an exception coming up.
With due respect to Mr. Salman
