Aitabh can do a Lolita

Since I started seeing Amitabh I have seen him carry off one difficult role after another. Amitabh has the personality and the star status to carry off this difficult role too. If this movie is to be made then the only actor in India who could successfully play the lead is Amitabh.

Why Not..

The problem we have in India is that we treat actors as demi-gods. Let us get one thing clear -actors are performers and they perform the character given to them. So when Amitabh potrays a character, most of us (even me) tend to see him many times as Amitabh and not the character he is supposed to be. And that is probably because we sub-conciously feel we know him personally. That should not be the case -by playing different characters, an actors hones his capability. It is so easy to be doing one thing all your life -but is is so boring. Let us all see something different from Amitabh, let us see him do roles that challenge him, let us see him as the character he potrays. Black was different, and Amitabh did put up a good performance but many aspects of the film were flawed. How many of us can accept the fact that Anupam Kher did a better job in "Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara".

Amitabh needs to be seen as an actor who can try and excel in any role rather than slot him into roles we are all accustomed seeing him in. Its time to move on, as he has also realised. In most of his prime he stuck to the image that suited his producers. Lets give the artist in him the scope to excel!

Amitabh

Well the biggest problem with Indian public is that they dont come to see character in a movie,They come to see Stars and glamour. No one wants to see facts and biggest issue is even the most educated dont understand how to relate to a movie. If Amitabh does a role which is not accepted in society,I feel there is no harm and it should not affect his image. He has done many cheap roles in movies like lal badshah etc etc etc but still managed to do some good roles which got him back in action. If the script is powerful and does not make him look cheap i feel he should go for it ..

Why should Amithab do such a role?
by Jeyasingh on Apr 18, 2006 02:19 PM

For such an iconic actor, who has had great reputation in the industry and among the masses, for all the roles he had handled so far, what is this role going to add?

I really think Bollywood has already become more Sex Oriented and having a very unfortunate impact in ordianry folks life. If Amithab does this role it would further endorse that and nothing more!!

Hope sanity returns into Bollywood!!

Can Amitabh do a Lolita?

No Way!!

Amitabh can't act in roles such as that, all he can do is to act in melodramatic bollywood movies like K3G & Mohabbatein. There are better actors in India and please do not refer Amitabh Bachan as one of the Best again. He is more like the Rajnikant of Bollywood. All Style and no Stuff!!!

Bala,

I am deeply hurt by your comment and comparision of rajnikant and amitabh. Amitabh has not only done K3G and Mohabbtein, please refer to Don, Trishul, Deevar, lavaris, Amar Akbar Anthony, Mukaddar ka Sikandar, Shakti , Sharabbi,...and powerful act in Anand, namak Haram, Mili, Chupke Chupke, Yarana.

You simply do not know how versatile that actor is ,, for your info he is the man rated star of millinium leaving behine legendry Charlie Chaplin, marlyn, even Arnold etc. Please be careful and have sufficient info before you make any comment over Amitabh.

It can be very disturbing to watch AB in such a role
by PB on Apr 18, 2006 12:47 PM

At an age where India is facing the serious threat of child sex tourism and paedophile rape cases, such a film can only fuel the sinful fire even more. A person of ABs calibre and personality has a certain amount of social responsibility towards his people and remember that no matter how much he claims its a job it will leave a very disturbing impact on the minds of his fans as well as viewers. We are not broad minded enough for such roles, nor is any other culture, why do you think Brokeback mountain lost in the Oscars. Perhaps the most scary part is that the perverted minds of certain paedophiles in our society will be encouraged or at least titillated to repeat their despicable acts. My request to Mr. AB please do not do it
