Is Naina horrer movie?
by saumitra on Jun 14, 2005 04:29 PM

I am not getting a point why Ram Gopal Verma is after the gosts. He is just insulting the ghosts by making substandard movies. After "darna mana hai", "vastu shastra" this is another waste of money. I did'nt got any logic of connection between the transplanted eye and the ghost. After making the Rajasthan village ghost happy, Naina was again continuously seeing the dark people. How the Indian ghost reached London - By air?
Story line was totally pathetic. Only watchable was the special effects.

Why blame Sukanya?
by Sameer on Jun 01, 2005 05:02 AM

These days, it has become fashionable to blame every Rediff reviewer, as soon as a new review is published. Why blame the reviewer? He/She can at most express individual impressions about the movie; and naturally there will be some people who may agree and some who do not. That is human nature.

And for piracy in Indian movies, there are some responses here that support piracy with a question to the effect, "what is wrong if a Hindi movie 'borrows' from another source?". Well, if you don't pay for borrowing, you are stealing. Somebody in Hollywood has bought rights to make Munnabhai MBBS in English. How would you feel if somebody steals the idea, makes a moview and does not even mention in the credits? That is what piracy is.

naina = horror gone horrific...
by Blaxxun on Jun 01, 2005 01:08 AM

ok, may ne sukanya went lil overboard in shredding the movies to tiny winy pieces. It was pretty tight till interval, but still that doesnt make naina a gud movie. In the end it was just another poor attempt by bollywood.
In old times we had ramsay brothers who thought horror meant funny masks, gore, blood. And now we have new breed who thinks horror is amplifying the sound of fan, sudden change in background score, slick camerawork, but sadly that doesnt make a movie good,a tight script does.
naina seems to be going gud till intermission but sadly after intermission it seems to loose its way. And what makes the whole things really pathetic, is blatant copy of scenes from foreign movies. Is it some kind of superstition or what? that if you copy story you have to copy scenes exactly?I refuse to belive that bollywood lacks creativity to this extent.Dont know who is the real cuplrit but I wanna ask one thing that why not just dub the damn movie?
Urmila was ok in the movie, but i have seen her doing better. Other actors did their bit but the director failed to deliver.
And for those who disagree with the reviewer, please see the BO fate of the movie. It clearly speaks how gud it is.

'Urmila' Its not a joke to carry a film on your own
by Vamsi on May 28, 2005 10:47 AM  | Hide replies

Rani, Priety, etc. all these successful actresses have given many big hits. But they have all shared the glory with their co-actors.

Urmila I think is extraordinary. She has carried three films Bhoot, Ek Hasina Thi & now Naina, only on her shoulders. In Bollywood, this is no jokes.

Pls dont say Naina is a usual Bollywood horror film. There is nothing wrong in copying from foreign films as long as it is good.

I think teh review doesn't do the movie justice.the movie wasn't bad and Urmila didnt look jaded. And pls dont keep on showing off your Knowledge of teh International movie.I guess saying that the movie was a remake of a Thai 1 was ok, but I thought u were defintely off the topic half way within teh review. Rediff pls change the reviewer.I don't look to Rediff for relaible reviews anymore.

Reviewers has no knowledge
by Arun Kumar on May 26, 2005 10:36 PM

Seems like Rediff reviewers has no knowledge about cinema. Even they dont know how to appreciate a movie when it has been tried in a different way.. They gotto change their attitude otherwise Rediff has to assign some knowledgable person.
