The movie is hundred percent successful in defining the subject "BLACK" . It gives a exposure to a world of deaf and blind person. The movie will get the oscar.

Did u really watch black???
by Surbhi on Mar 03, 2005 08:23 PM  | Hide replies

Did you really put in the efford to watch black before reviewing it? After watching the movie, I was shocked that anyone could review it so badly.

From next time kindly write a fair review and don't do criticism for the sake of it !!!! After all you guys have some responsibility. Not that your review mattered in case of "Black" as its going house full in India and people in abroad have endless parises for it, but please be fair to your job atleast. Thats a request!!!

This movie can be India's most appropriate entry to OSCARS, thanks to the international treatment of the movie. Wonderful movie indeed!

Beautiful Black puts Rediff on Trial
by Vijaykrishna Ballary on Mar 02, 2005 09:46 AM  | Hide replies

Continuing from my previous message, Black: A Shining Winner, doesn't Rediff owe a confession statement, recognising its folly, its arrogance at having dismissed a beautiful movie like black as a flop and then realising that it is indeed a hit?

Rediff, this is your moment, eitiher come out as an honest decent site or join the gang of corrupt liars who, these days are called intellectuals.

Beg to differ. Just like design is subjective thing,so are movies. But there are certain guidlines to be followed to make a successful or good movie. Else all artists would however outrageous would be an Ela Menon or hussian.
Nothing here except hype. This movie was over hyped just like devdas.Everything is larger than life with very little substance. Loud! If you need impact and surprise you dont need to be loud. That is so predictable. It goes to prove that the director isnt able to communicate or control his viewers, so has to resort to such tactics. There is nothing left to think for the viewer. Amitabh the great actor that he is, has been wasted and pushed over the top in this film. I guess all hav just followed the director and overdone. Sad to see such actors and actoresses being brought down to these levels. No subtleness in the emotions, the audience had to be heckled into showing their emotions. Its more like a personal portfolio than a public movie. When looked at that way, yes it seems understandable. Less selfish. Had to beleive that the same guy directed Hum dil deh chuke sanam.

Black : A Shining Winner
by vijaykrishna ballary on Mar 02, 2005 09:42 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Readers,

It has been such a beautifully heartwarming experience to read almost all of you who watched the
movie loved it so much. Some have found some aspects
of the movie not that great but the overall feeling
that the movie has left them with, is a very nice and
refreshing one. I personally loved the movie and if
there were tears at the end of it, it was a tear of
joy and gratitude to a movie that shows us what is
human spirit all about.

The less we talk of sita menon, riddhi raja and so on, the better.

Ideally we should ignore rediff but somehow i feel a
deep sense of anguish and feel like not letting rediff get away with it. If you see their box office
verdicts, first three weeks they consistently declared Black as flop and didnt have even a bit of
decency to consider the readers mails that were pouring in and reassess their own judgement. But thank god movie has been running and this week redif has quietly changed its verdict to Hit. Isnt it something that rediff should be ashamed of? Leave aside their misreading the movie that we can attribute to sita menons stupidity/arrogance/ignoran-
ce, but this change in verdict stands like a blot on
rediff.

this is the price one has to pay for freedom, that people with with whatever limited resources they have at hand think they can philosophise. And out they come with their half baked thought processes. A person goes to a doc to take his advise since the doc is a specialist in that subject, not because he writes well or dresses well or speaks well or drives well. So when you voice your opinion, say that its your personal opinoin, since if ppl went by yr opinion there would be no meaningful cinema. So go learn a little about the subject, before your opiniate, then come and give your views, else you end up sounding like our 4th standard failed politicians.
