It is one of the best movie on bollywood. On this Topic no director of india can dare to work on , but Sanjay did it..... Appreciated. The best treatment is done by Bhansali. Rani and Amitabh were at there best.
It is not the job of the critic to suck up to the reader, to make the reader happy, or to agree with the reader. It is not the job of the critic to give praise just because something is a box office success. It is not the job of a critic to say positive things if the critic did not see anything positive. It is not the job of a magazine to retract a negative review if the film turns out to be a success.
It is the job of the reviewer to analyze honestly and to give his honest opinion. His job is criticism, not promotion, not sugar coating, and not sucking up.
A critic like sita menon who is arrogant enough to accuse SLB of obstinacy needs to get her priorities right first and then with a new fresh mind she has to go and watch the movie again.the movie black is a refreshing change from the current genre of sleaze films and one has to appreciate Bhansali for giving such a MOVIE.the movie opens the gateway to a new world- the black,bleak world of the blind and sanjay leela bhansali has handled the script quite well.but the huge figures looming in and out and the white background in the latter half of the movie and mind you the characters are not melodramatic like our critic mentioned.they are altogether a different sort and set of people and being different doesnt neccessarily mean being overdramatic and the characters certainly cannot be underplayed .instead they have to be boldly underlined.overall the film proves to be a fantastic,emotionaland individualistic film.yet another father on bhansali cap and BLACK is BHANSALI's PASSION and SITA MENON's PAIN.

Beg to differ. Just like design is subjective thing,so are movies. But there are certain guidlines to be followed to make a successful or good movie. Else all artists would however outrageous would be an Ela Menon or hussian. Nothing here except hype. This movie was over hyped just like devdas.Everything is larger than life with very little substance. Loud! If you need impact and surprise you dont need to be loud. That is so predictable. It goes to prove that the director isnt able to communicate or control his viewers, so has to resort to such tactics.There is nothing left to think for the viewer. Amitabh the great actor that he is, has been wasted and pushed over the top in this film. I guess all hav just followed the director and overdone. Sad to see such actors and actoresses being brought down to these levels. No subtleness in the emotions, the audience had to be heckled into showing their emotions. Its more like a personal portfolio than a public movie. When looked at that way, yes it seems understandable. Less selfish. Had to beleive that the same guy directed Hum dil deh chuke sanam.
Movie is waste of money. Go with a pack of hankys if you are bored with happiness. If you want entertainment, rather sit home and watch Main Hoon Na, ANYDAY.
Acting by child artist in 1st half is awesome but in the 2nd half the movie drags , amitabh and rani are average .Movie will be liked only by a certain class.
