Indian movies for golden globe
by suyog on Dec 12, 2005 06:00 PM

I've seen all of these movies ,which are nominated for the globe I dont think any of them will be able to make it.Veer zaara is on overhyped film only cos of the yashraj banner and galaxy of stars, such branded movies are always hyped in India, but the fact remains that it is an odinary movie with no content in it,also the love story in it is not developed properly.Black definately has good performances on its edge but thats the only plus point.Paheli is different in story content and atmosphere creation but it could have been much better.

Yes, Paheli Does
by Prashant on Dec 12, 2005 05:59 PM

Paheli Surely Does deserve THE nomination from India. Its an authentic Indian Folk story, told in nice and subtle, yet a very entertaining way.

Black, inspite of Mr. Bacchan's and Ms. Mukherjee's Exemplary performance, draws inspiration from elsewhere.

Veer Zaara, a run off the mill film of Yash Raj,has many mistakes..(eg.. Shahrukh Khan, who has been in jail for over 20 years with no access to any information..can talk bout the noise of a F16 Fighter which flies over the Jail!)

Give Paheli a chance and am sure it will win awards!

Hey,

No wonder why u think Kajol is best, coz u r overreacting man, your Kajol OVERACTS, my goodness, always...But Rani never overacts, she is natural, dont compare people who are totally different from each other...Be sensible...

Do they deserve a Golden Globe?
by pranav kulkarni on Dec 12, 2005 05:56 PM

NO! I have no doubt about the acting skills of both Mr. Bachchan and SRK. As for Rani Mukharji, she is a pretty woman but nowhere in the same league as her cousin Kajol when it comes to acting.

As for the films, Veer Zaara is a film without any logic. I can't understand how can it become such a major hit! Its only USP is the Indo-Pak background. Otherwise it is no better than any average love story and it is no match for films like DDLJ, which is ironically enough a Yashraj film!

Black is another overrated film. I don't think Bhansali can ever make a sensible film. He always adds lot of melodrama. And anyways, when the main protagonist is DEAF, DUMB and BLIND, it is bound to get the viewer emotionally charged!

I have not seen Paheli, so I can't comment on it. But the one film which is nowhere mentioned is Swades. I saw it 3 times and each time liked it even more. It does not have "INDO-PAK LEAD PAIR", or "DEAF, DUMB and BLIND" protagonist but it is miles ahead in every department from these three films!

Annual Awards

Dear Readers,

As Bollywood is being recognized globally in todays era, Indian movies have taken place in the hearts of foreigners and share a good rapo in the world of cinemas.

I have been staying abroad for quiet long and this difference can be seen from last couple of years especially in Europe where its multilinguial continent. The movies have been screened in open theaters like KAL HO NA HO and other movies in theaters with German,French and Italian sub-titles (Switzerland). Its a huge achievemênt for Bollywood and a pride for Indians.

Now being the Annual Award in Los Angeles, 3 Bollywood movies are in Q's.As i have seen all this 3 movies, i would personally nominate for Black followed by Veer-Zara.Both movies have a very touchy and sentimental thoughts which has been praised globally.Black has a superb style with fluency in language and a very beautiful body language. It has been directed very close to Hollywood movies with well organized sets and background music and that signifies Bollywood is getting close technically to Hollywood.

I WISH ALL THE BEST FOR BOLLYWWOD and especailly to all the team members of these 3 movies who have work hard to achieve this position

Black....Paheli....Veer Jaara ...Over Hyped movies
by Anurag on Dec 12, 2005 05:45 PM

I have seen only one of them ... Paheli .And from what I see , the movie is good but definiitely not an Oscar clincher.I mean there are far better movies who were not even nominated for the Oscars.First one which springs to my mind is Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi. For me, this was the Hindi Movie of the year 2006.This film suffers from just one flaw ( if you can call that a flaw)...a very poor publicity campaign .I dont know how the selection criteria works here but sending these movies as our official entries for Oscars and Golden Globe is definitely not going earn positive reviews for the Indian Cinema at a global platform

golden globe?
by raz on Dec 12, 2005 05:45 PM

frankly i don't think any of these films deserve the award for they fall below the standards of the desired craftsmanship. secondly, they are mediocore and at best can entertain `desi' audiences who really have no choice but to lap it up. most of our films are rip offs of hollywood hits and are always aspirational ventures. `Black' could be the closest thing for winning an award but it's also a copy. Rani was fantastic and Amitabh got an opportunity to be a Naseeruddin Shah and he tried his best. he was good though. but the film reflected its desire to be a classic in each frame, too much of an effort on part of the director, sometimes it lacked that natural spark that makes it great. it was a laboured effort by bansali with an eye on awards. and it showed. indian films will win foreign awards only if they tell a story straight from the heart without making a `song and dance' of it. c'mon bollywood it's about time.
