It's outrageous to say that paheli deserves Oscar nominations; the movie was nothing more than a fairy tale wherein a female gets pregnant by sleeping with a soul and few hindi songs. It's purely an Indian fiction which has nothing to offer to the society at large. Black on the other side yes it deserves it because it actually portrayed the pain of blind, deaf and dumb girl who goes on not only to live but lead a pretty decent life beyond imaginations. Black has got the in-depth meaning and offers enormous feelings of a highly handicapped girl. It shows the determination of a teacher, the faith of a mother and courage of a blank girl who is into pitch darkness and only darkness. Black movie will go places and am sure will not only be nominated but will be awarded with high respect and due diligence.
Well, definitly all three movies are good. Veer Zara is not an Osacr Nomi worth film though. Paheli is not the original, its a lift from a Kannada movie Nagamandala. So i think its not worth an Oscar Nomi either. that leaves us with Black.... Its definitely worth an Oscar, atleast for the brilliant performances by all actors involved....but again, its not an original!
These films are just vague ones. No actor can match Mithun da. Remember his films like Guru, disco dancer and chandaal?? Those films should have been sent for Oscar and golden globe awards...
Now a days once stupid films are being produced and directed... We miss you Mithun da..
'Black' surely does not deserve a nomination..the international audience has seen better films.. its high time that we stop copying styles from hollywood, and make 'indian' films... we have so many stories to tell, and so many colors to explore, that we dont need films like 'black' to embarass us.. i would say that even 'paheli' can be a contender, bot surely not 'black'!!!! sorry mr. bhansali, but there is better stuff in the world than your pompous and superficial and overtly extravagant affair, named, 'BLACK'...

Totally agree, Black is an Indian embarrasment! I just pray no western film enthusiast sees this movie. His perception of Indian cinema will indeed drop. If the people in this message board care to see the best that world cinema offers, instead of the trash that bollywood produces they will stop going Black Black! Sending such movies and then asking for peoples comments is just an elaborate waste of everyones time. c.
