harsh review

Well i think the movie review of Mangal Pandey is written by some abnoxious person. Movie is much better than the masala movies released. Yeah it's true that some of the things shown probably doesn't relate to the history. It's a good movie but could have been made better.

mangal panday

In 1857 did the women actually wear such skimpy dresses and exposed so much. And why does the director had to show a woman feeding the child so openly. Are these scenes included only so that the film gets internatinal status. The Indian culture respects the woman's feminity and not expose it. It is showed as a period film then why doesnt it look like one. I definitely didnt expect Aamir Khan would do this film keeping in mind his great work in his earlier films.

Raja Sen

Raja Sen it seems that u are a hardcore Shahrukh Khan fan and not an unbiased critic as u should be atleast when u are writting reviews for movies.I have seen both Asoka and The Rising and I think only a fool like u can compare the two movies.Asoka is pure pathetic and The Rising is a good movie but not a spectacular movie like Lagaan.
As for Aamir being jealous of Shahrukh, I think Shahrukh who is just interested in making the usual 'glossy NRI' movies is hardly an inspiration for Aamir, who is atleast trying to break away from the placid formula films and make movies of international standards.

The rising Gordon
by joy on Aug 30, 2005 03:29 PM

Dear sirs,

Rising The Legend of Michael Gordon this should be the name of the movie, after watching this movie one feels Gordon is the real hero and Mangal pandey seems to be an accidental hero, Aamir has been careful in not hurting the ego of our colonial masters and has succeeded in doing so this movie will make any british proud after all they saved our satis and even slept with them they provided lively hood to indian woman who are shown to be proud of providing pleasure to firangis , Any person with a bit of self respect and love for his country will be hurt by this movie, this movie clearly highlights the inferiority of Indian culture and civilisation which British delibrately created, this movie may provide Oscar to amir afterall british were not all that bad, amir khan may have succeeded in showing what he beleives in after all this is the same man who created the master piece LAGAN

Pathetic Review
by Chirag on Aug 30, 2005 01:49 PM

A pathetic movie?Infact this is the most pathetic review i have ever read. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.A review i read in a school newspaper was better than yours..Some of the things you said made me laugh.Aamir envious of Shahrukh khan?Asoka was a ridiculous movie and so was shahrukh in that movie.Aamir is 10 times better than shahrukh as an actor who does the same boring lover boy role in every film.I saw The Rising and i loved it.Although not as good as Lagaan it is better than any recent movie i've seen.I am not gonna read any of your reviews anymore because frankly you have no idea whatsover how to write a review.

raja..quit your job as a film critic
by Abhijit Sarkar on Aug 30, 2005 12:05 PM

Mr Raja Sen,
With all the mails that you have received, I guess you must be convinced by now that you are among the cheap class of critics.May be you should quit this job.The moment when you have told Ashoka to be a better movie, your low standard has come to light.

Accepted the movie,Mangal Pandey, is not good, but at least the actor has made his dedicated effort to make a quality movie.Give a recognition for that. Very few actors do that in present time. But unfortunately, since you have rated low for films like Swades and Sarkar, its obvious that you are un-aware of the term quality.A sincere sugesstion would be for you to first take yourself out of commercialization and understand the term quality, then go out for rating .

At this point a mail to the editor,Rediff, is needed to give you some vacation. In your vacation, plz review what myself, sirisha polsapalli ,saif naik ,srinivas or all the others have written.

disaster 'critic'
by Dhyanesh on Aug 30, 2005 03:00 AM

Thank God, I read the review after I saw the movie today. This sounds like someone has already decided writing a negative review and when can't find the flaws, starts writing about the length of hair of the sepoys. Please go and watch the movie again in a positive 'Indian' frame of mind.

Not that bad
by Sid Batchu on Aug 29, 2005 09:23 PM

I\'m not sure about Raja\'s experience as a Film Critic, but I have seen the film and its really not that bad. Depite the \'historical inaccuracies\' and bad music, the movie was worth the money. This is not a documentary on Mangal Panday, it was meant to be a source of entertainment which it was. Again, I highly doubt if RAJA witnessed the real Mangal Panday\'s era to know what the real story is!!
