War Epic
by Aditya Kannan on Jun 21, 2006 07:29 PM

I saw Lakshya just yesterday and was well worth the money spent. I actually bought its DVD online on Eros International and was thoroughly entertained.

Lakshya is one of the best war films produced by India and it has captured the Indo-Pak Kargil war of 1999 in a beautiful and authentic manner without being too jingoistic. The director Farhaan Akhtar shows a lot of maturity and has moved on from his Dil Chahta Hai days. Farhaan is definately one of the best things to have happened to bollywood.

The cast do a great job from Hrithik and Amitabh Bachchan to Boman Irani. No complaints. A wonderful film. Great job by Excel Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures.

MILESTONE IS THE LAKSHYA
by Ashish on Sep 21, 2004 11:54 PM

Lakshya is surely in a class of its own. No dhawans, chopraa, johars, bhansalis can do what Farhan has done.

Lakshya makes you realise the importance of victory and love in life. The journey of self realisation by Lt. Karan Shergill is just awesome to put it on paper. Hrithik makes me adore him all over agin with Lakshya. Ive seen the movie thrice in movies and absolutely aghast when I didnt get the ticks 4th time.

If I forget to mention Christopher Popp I would be doing a crime against greatest camerawork. In the 2nd half popp just complements Hrithik.

Dont go by the BO verdict Farhaan, this film has hit its target audiences hard. Youth who look for meaningful cinema and we all thank you and your crew for producing something magnificent like this for us @ 18000 ft.

Someday hopefully we all fine our lakshyas too...

Do you even know the difference in budgets of saving.. and lakshya?
by Obvious Adam on Aug 21, 2004 05:41 PM

Ok. I hate it when ppl compare hindi movies to hollywood. Do you even know the budget of "Saving pvt Ryan"? Gawd.. they shot bullets in cow flesh to get the perfect sound. Comparing Lakshya to Saving is not fair at all. Then again, this is not even a war movie like saving.. or for that matter LOC. The army couldve been substituted for anything to tell the story of Lakshya. But the climax of conquering a post sure kicks ass! yeah... you can make lakshya with hritik joining a accountant firm too.. :)

A CLARIFICATION
by Simon on Jul 18, 2004 12:12 AM

This is for Ingit who has supposed that I have let my passion for the west run away with me.The whole point of the message was not lakshya which I agree is a well made movie. The message was to someone who had compared Lakshya to SPR to the latter's advantage. Moreover, I was not trying to write an eulogy about Hollywood.I was merely trying to point out the fact that comparisons by their very nature are illogical and if someone decides to embark on any criticism it should be done with a better knowledge of the subject.By mentioning the last few movies I was trying to draw his attention to the fact that if the horrors of war was the subject then these examples were better equipped for the argument than Spielberg's film.

Hrithik gets a 'JAI JAWAN' from the real Jawans!
by Armaan Khan on Jul 16, 2004 07:44 PM

After his role in Lakshya Hrithik Roshan does the jawans proud again. And this time its the real desh sipahees who join us in giving him a standing ovation. Hrithik trudged his way to the battle frontiers to meet the jawans. The jawans were all so impressed with Hrithiks performance in Lakshya that they couldnt stop complimenting him about it. In fact, the soldiers were of the opinion that no film star has ever portrayed an authentic look of a jawan as in Lakshya, what with his muscular physique and cropped hair.
Call a spade a spade, in Kurukshetra, be a Kshatriya. At other times, just being gorgeous Hrithik is enough!
