Why not?

Yes, its justified. Its not that only few people in the family deserve the status to be made. We have to honour these great leaders who have built the nation. The proposed statue will be a landmark life statue of liberty.

So why not honor all the heroes then? Just imagine the cost of honoring all the heroes with Rs. 200 crore statues?? The heroes would not have wanted these definitely when there are still so many poor suffering below poverty!!

I think it is okay with govt spending money on some idea. I think this statue will provide employment to many youth involved in construction business and also will create an environment for tourism in the future. When pvt enterprises do not take up such things, govt can always come into picture.

Here, 200 crores go nowhere, they are used for purchase of material and pay employees from our own country. Good job.

Do not you see employment generated in this idea. It is ideas such as these that create employment. Employment is not only in offices, govt sectors, or pvt sectors. Tomorrow, the govt may try to build a recreation park at par with Disney World, will it be a waste? No, it is the way employment is generated.

Statue to the Man who created United India
by Dryers Industrial on Jul 10, 2014 05:00 PM  | Hide replies

....Ofcourse its justified....in fact more should be given over the years....Sardar Patel united India without which India as it exists today would not have existed.....We would have had Junagadh and Hyderabad as parts of Pakistan, in the middle of a semi contigeous India....this man has been deserving a National Memorial since his death, but all that the Congress did was promote Nerhu Gandhi in Books, Studies, Projects and Politics.....Its high time other people associated with Indian Independence are given their due and this statue of Unity is a Good start....It will help promote Ideas of Sardar Patel, Idea of India first, United India, strong India etc etc.....

Statue of Unity Vs. Statue of Liberty
by amitabh banerjee on Jul 10, 2014 04:54 PM

Though the Choice of Our IRON MAN as Statue of Unity is Controversial. Though Building Such LANDMARKS is Commendable by BJP which can Map India in the World Tourism Map ; otherwise no such Historical monuments could have been build for our mankind to see & admire.

when the multi crore invested hyderabad airport can be named after rajiv gandhi who does not belong to that state why cant we spend some amount for the man who actually united this country into one entity. The man without whose help Nehru would have achieved nothing and probably fled to England ot spend teh rest of his life with Lady Mountbatten
