If we look at some terminals in Chennai Intl we might feel that it isn't even fit to serve as a railway station. I just wonder what opinions foreigners would form of our country, the moment they arrive. For the parking fees collected, services in this airport and also many others has to improve by 10 times the current situation.

Why r u worried about what foreigners will think, let them think what they want. But We should think it is good. Any day railway stations are better that our airport as they have Water Toilets waiting room information centre and other facilities needed by the common man.

i have visited slumbai airport so many times.... The airport is surrounded by slums and the roads leading to the airport r pothole ridden.... The moment u come out of the airport the typical pollution and stink that this city is famous for, welcomes you. Everywhere there is litter, filth and urchins spread around. Regarding the taxiwallahs, the less said the better.
How did this airport make it No. 2 in the list???

Except the urchins, you are 100% right, yes i am from Mumbai but my experience in travelling in Mumbai Airport at night was worse than or say equal to Local trains, non of the ACs were working the CROWD was too big, as compared to that Airport was too small. And civic sense in the people was pathetic, everyone was trying to jump lines. !!

Just wait for the Navi Mumbai International Airport, Ulwe and comment....
I don't think Bangalore Airport should be placed at 4; it should at least be 40th place...reasons
1. Worst traffic to and fro the airport. 2. Wastage of huge parking space. 3. Heavy parking charges. 4. Only 2 minute on-way parking option 5. Heavy bus charges (volvo) 6. Taxi people just loot the commuters 7. Night travel is scary surrounding the air port 8. Auto fellows torture public after entering the city 9. Only 1 toilet next airpot that always stinks 10. Many, many more reasons to call it the worst Air port...
International doesn't mean the building and the glasses and the lights...it should be measured with service and comfort for the commuters...

i 110% agree with your all points made.auto and taxi drivers in bangalore think that people juts rob the money and tour. I mean to say that to earn money we all have to work so hard but these people just want it easy...

You said it Buddy.....It is fit to be a domestic airport....I have seen articles comparing it with the likes of Dubai and Seoul. What a pity
It is an unresearched artice. CSIA Mumbai and Anna Intl Chennai are huge embarassements. How can they be no.2 and no.3 . This is just a listing of 17 busiest airports

I TOTALLY agree that the CSIA and Kamraj airports are no doubt embarassements. Also if we look at some terminals in Chennai Intl we might feel that it isn't even fit to serve as a railway station. I just wonder what opinions foreigners would form of our country, the moment they arrive. For the parking fees collected, services in these 2 airports and also many others has to improve by 10 times the current situation.
There's no airport in India that can be called world-class. Our airports are simply inefficient - no two things. Apart from that, most of the airports are also dirty.
However, among the ones mentioned in the essay, I really liked Dabolim and Trivandrum airports. This is mainly because they're a throwback to the seventies, if not sixties. They're both small but quaint with tiled roofing, old fashioned personnel and accented announcers. In short, I like these airports the way one likes vintage cars.
