I have been trying to join an Indian IT company
by Chandra SR on Oct 28, 2010 02:51 AM  | Hide replies

I have migrated to US about 18 years ago and since 2005 I have been trying to get a job in India. So far no one called me for an interview. Where as in US I at least get a call irrespective of the economy. I do agree career progress is way better in India. With the tax structure and expenses, the max I can save is $50,000/year over $170K CTC excluding all the expenses. I have opportunity to make more in US but taxes are burden. So I am happy to get salary 1/3 to 1/2 of what I make in US in India. Still no takers. I have the classic NRI profile (MBA MS BS) and 15 years of experience.
I am not commenting on some of the nonmarket strategies Infosys practices as it is part of the game we all play with in ethical boundaries.

You're not getting a call because you can not be a slave. Indian companies want people who have no option but to live with harassment and unfair work conditions. Will you agree to that ? The recruiting people know that you won't submit to harassment and unfair work conditions.

An self proclaimed scientist said that petrol can be generated using the urine. So infosys built 100's sulab scuahalaya in bangalore. The scientist went missing so all the connectivity of pipes were into infosys. They recycled the same and used it for gadrening and for fountains.
So in infosys u can see a board that please do not touch water.

Improve quality of life
by debater on Oct 27, 2010 11:11 PM

"But their lives could be made easier by providing schools, making sure that power condition and commuting is reasonably all right."
You are right Mr.Murthy. Let the govt. provide good infrastructure, clean air to breathe, decrease the unrealistic real estate prices, improve quality of life and provide more value for rupee. Then the H1B and Green Card aspirants will certainly decrease. A classic case is your own Bangalore. Quality of life was so good until 2002 and now look how it is. Did the govt. do anything to improve it at the right time? Let the Govt. act first. Until then let the interested guys leave the country and lessen the burden on the nation.

by startraveller on Oct 27, 2010 10:58 PM  | Hide replies

What did you do with the money you acquired in the IT boom. Will you give away all the money to your progeny?

Did you ever venture to create electronic products. Did you ever tried to build a great Indian brand in automobile industry.

Except pocketing money what did you do?

Don't fight.Mr aaaabbbb your words "every one will do what interests them.." is fine, but if you're a mechanical engineer with good academics or you ready to go to an industry and watch the processes and help your management to give a quality feed back such that your company will get benefitted much more than you getting involved in a banking software indsutry project. This i'm advising to realise your potential and direct in right direction.Assuming there're are more than enough engineers with mechanicalbackground are there and that's why you're into such an unconnected industry;will such argument holds true given the orpahaning of the manufacturing/production/construction indutries by talented people like you, that has potential crores of revenue and instead getting few lakhs fro foreigners and putting a pose as if you're doing great service to our country and you deserve best treatment by way of great salary/perks,a hero treatment etc?realise your potential.Ask your management to get you posted on deferred intervals to watch the industrial processes, and develop good software that takes care of local conditions with high utility value, and thus help in optimising production costsand allevaite the pains of yur counterparts working at field level. With Best Wishes
