Very Good Boys. Keep it up

I felt very happy reading your story. Great. You have helped lot of Indians as well as helping yourselves by launching this service and running it successfully. I have also seen some anti comments here, but, it is going to be there. Take it in your stride. If there are really serious flaws in your services, try to improve it and do it better. Always excel in your business and be truthful. All the Best.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your encouragement.
One of the biggest problems we have in our business is the service levels. There are 1000s of bus operators and not everyone is service conscious.
At the same time, we couldn't stop listing all the bus operators because we wanted to get information transparency in this highly fragmented, unorganized industry. Which means, we wanted to list all the bus services, their fares, departure times on our site.

To help our customers, we have put the below...
* Low service quality alert: If we hear bad feedback about any particular bus service, we classify it as poor quality bus (rated in red on our site) and alert customers when they try to book on that bus.
* High fare alert: Where ever we feel that the service is unreasonably priced, we put a 'high fare' alert to let our customers know.

We are happy to say that we could, with the above features, influence some bus operators to be service conscious.

We are working hard to make bus booking experience hassle free.

Best regards,
redBus team

my first experience with redbus..

i live in hyderabad i had to travel to a place called tiruvarur in tamilnadu on a business trip and why i enquired from people, they said i had to go to chennai and take a bus from there its an overnight journey. so i was wondering how to book a ticket from chennai to tiruvarur as i had nobody in chennai at that time who can do a favour to me, so i started searching on the net as chennai tiruvarur bus tickets..and i found in results that one Ratimina travels operate from chennai and when i clicked on that it took me to redbus site...for the first time i have seen that...and i had my own doubts of the website appearance and wether i should be or not, but i had no other option, so took their hyderabad office number sent one my person with the money to buy a ticket directly from the office as i told you i was hesitating to book a ticket online on the website...with its visual look. then after taking the ticket..i enquired with their hyd office, chennai office and ratimani travels about my booking and i reached chennai and went to private bus stand and located the ratimena travels..and shown the ticket..then he told me to wait for the bus...and then only i got confidence that i am carrying a original ticket and not a fake one. so i did travelled to tiruvarur for the first time...thru redbus and continued my most of bookings with them...

Promoting business is not wrong, but highlighting only the few good points against the lot of bad points is wrong

Simple idea but great business oppertunity
by vijay boda on Oct 19, 2010 03:23 PM

First of all let me thankyou redbus for coming up with site and making the ticket booking so easy. Believe me im not a sales man nor a representative of redbus. I am software engineer working in Banglore and had lots of difficulties in booking the bus tickets. Oneday i found redbus from google search and i find it very convenient to book then onwards. It is a comman man need and otherwise you had to call multiple agents/operators to find out the availability which is very tiresome. Ideas like redbus is eyeopener for lot others who are looking for business oppertunities in our daily needs. I do read lot of articles/news-items in rediff but post comments very rarely. I felt i should write good things about the redbus because i am using it very frequently.

Congratulations !!!
by R k on Oct 19, 2010 03:13 PM

My hearty congratulations to you..redbus team..
so its proved that if you come out from an iit or bits pilani and you will only work for corporates..more than that you are expected to become an enterpreneur and a corporate as the kind of pretigious institutions these or. but on the website, i have few feelings..i hope people from redbus read these
1. you need to give more appeal to the website as it looks bit light weight...may be a bit un reliable by visual appearance..think of this
2. when you publish the timings of the buses which are very confusing...eg: a kaleswari boarding points at nampally, lakdikapul, kondapur, miyapur with same timing 6.30pm..this is bit unpractical..please try to mention correct timings...as a customer we need to spend lot of time in waiting for the bus.
3. after the website shows the search results, please divide them in 2 parts...volve and non-volve and put them as per the earliest time to late time sorting method..hope this will be easy for customers to select from..

i wish all the success for redbus in future years...and it should become a eye opener or inspiring story for fresh IITans,NITs,BITS...not only looking to go abroad, join in a typical IT company...become an enterprenuer...give life to 10 others..

REd bus
by pai laxminarayan on Oct 19, 2010 03:00 PM  | Hide replies

In Karnataka, KSRTC bus tickets can be bought at thousands of small ticket vendors, who has a computer terminal hooked to KSRTC server. If other private bus operators also form a association and have a server it is possible to have similar arrangement.
I do not understand what BITS graduates have achieved using their Engineering skills. waste of govt and parents money in becoming engineers and then doing bus ticket booking business.
Nearly 25 years back a progressive truck fleet operating company owner(Mr. Narendra GOel of South eastern Roadways, A mettulurgical Engineer by qualificatiion) had exactly similar idea for Truck and LPG transportation. He did not pursue it further!

mr.laxminarayan
it is not that what you study, but it matters what you are doing and how well your doing it and what is the benefit you r providing to society interms of facility and employment.
i dont think people never take birth as engineers, doctors, pilots or industrialists...it goes with the passion, circumstances and need and fate...so there is nothing wrong in doing anykind of business...there are too many people who are engineering students, but turned out to be successful, film actors, film makers, politicians, sportsman in the country

Well Said.
One thing people hav to realise is if u r IIT then u should do this and not that. Innovations have created more jobs than Inventions( That doesn't mean Invetions are not important).
