Not true. India is more like a bubble. India was never united before British. It will again get divided into 30 nations, and china will make sure of that.

that is India's strength..it can stay united without being homogenous..your Pakis will never understand this as you wave you mindlessly wave the Arab Islamic flag..Indias foremost task is to neutralize Islam in the neighborhood and concentrate on economic upswing. India must get together with US & Israel to destroy the terror hubs in the Afghan/Pak region.

This is a stupid message. The fact is that China will be separated from Tibet and India will be free from the dragon's borders.

Correct. India is a nation of followers. India really improved during the british rule. It will certainly improve during a Chinese rule.
1. the west by surrendering its manufacturing capabilities to china (primarily due to the greed of a few industrialists) will lose out over a period of time and become poorer and poorer.
2. so when the west goes down it will naturally effect china who is its main goods supplier. china cannot sell as many goods anymore.
3. to be a superpower requires a certain level of internal harmony. china lacks this primarily due to a. autocracy within and b. due to troubles in xinjiang and tibet which constitutes atleast half their territory.
4. china is not a benevolent power like the usa which though created a lot of trouble still helped a lot of other countries. on the contrary china is a malign power which has a lot of enemies which will make it too cautious to take big risks.
5. for if it takes a big risk and slips its enemies will surely pull it down.
6. china lacks the scientific/techlogical innovative capability that marks a true superpower - because technology is the true currency of power in the world. it is more a reverse engineering genius than having capability to create things on its own.
7. chinese culture lacks the dynamism that western culture has. china infact historically was dominated by india culturally.
there are many more reasons why china cannot be a super power. mere high foreign reserves do not a superpower make.

China nor India will be superpowers for the next hundred years. We still have a long way to go.
As for now, our priority should be to provide food, shelter and education for our masses.

there is also a primary reason that the usa and formerly the ussr became superpowers. because the other major countries were too sick (china, india etc) and the other dominant countries of the time (britain, germany, france etc) became weak due to world war 1. but in contrast today countries like india, brazil, russia are prospering. and contrary to public posturing the usa with all its diplomatic and strategic capabilities will definitely not allow china to become a superpower. the usa needs china now? but the reverse is also true.

1. the west by surrendering its manufacturing capabilities to china (primarily due to the greed of a few industrialists) will lose out over a period of time and become poorer and poorer. A. No so sure, but yes possible logically.
2. so when the west goes down it will naturally effect china who is its main goods supplier. china cannot sell as many goods anymore. A. There is already a great internal demand, so internal demand will offset this.
3. to be a superpower requires a certain level of internal harmony. china lacks this primarily due to a. autocracy within and b. due to troubles in xinjiang and tibet which constitutes atleast half their territory. A. England became a supper power by controling WALES and SCOTLAND and IRELAND, so not really true.
4. china is not a benevolent power like the usa which though created a lot of trouble still helped a lot of other countries. on the contrary china is a malign power which has a lot of enemies which will make it too cautious to take big risks. A. U r kidding, China has done so really fantastic work in Africa, in helping them buidl their infrastructure.
5. for if it takes a big risk and slips its enemies will surely pull it down. A. Yes this is a fact but again it has a 50-50 basis.
6. china lacks the scientific/techlogical innovative capability that marks a true superpower - because technology is the true currency of power in the world. it is more a reverse engineering genius than having capability to create th

A. Again partially true.
7. chinese culture lacks the dynamism that western culture has. china infact historically was dominated by india culturally. A. Hmm...not exactly true but yes taken.
there are many more reasons why china cannot be a super power. mere high foreign reserves do not a superpower make. No but 10 New Yorks can definetly make it. China has created fantastic cities and that will mean its population will be relatively well off, with on par Militiary Tech and HIGHEST military in numbers, they are a super power, although they are more od a reginal power, only India stands between them and that too India whose Financial Capital is also the worlds SLUM capital.

No man, it is possible. China has a huge population and population is an advantage in a knowledge society and consumer economy.
Re: Re: Yeah, yeah
by Nandakumar Chandran on Jan 24, 2010 08:00 AM
that population is aging. in another 20 years a good part of the work force will not be productive anymore.
IMHO, it already is but has not openly declared so. Just look around you; everything tangible you have is either made in China or has Chinese parts. If China wanted to let everyone know who is the boss, it can very well do so much to the helplessness of the western world.
As to whether India will become a superpower, it certainly won't with our wishful thinking, silently hoping for a miracle. A wise man once said, be the change you want to see.
Yes, China is well on its way to be the dominant superpower in the near future. There is nothing wrong in this. The Chinese have waited patiently for decades to be recognized and respected and more than 1.3 billion Chinese deserve their time in the sun. India should emulate the good things about China which it currently lacks and avoid the mistakes that China made to get to this point. India can use best practices from all countries and still retain what makes India unique and great in its own right. India will be a superpower at some time in the future years after China. India should not however get bogged down in the superpower race and instead focus on its unique strengths and culture. It is not necessary for all countries to tread the same path. The current mad rush to capitalism and the adoption of all things from abroad whether it be in business, entertainment or in daily existence is putting India on the same path to unchecked consumerism, environmental crisis (increased pollution) and cultural crisis (work-life balance, breakdown of extended families, respect for elders, family care, family values). Indians should retain their traditional and family values while adopting best practices in areas where India is lagging behind other nations. The new car manufacturers should consider solar and electric powered vehicles - the autorickshaws and the Nano would be ideal candidates for conversion to solar and electric power.
