Fiscal Deficit
by vedant dube on Dec 19, 2010 03:19 AM

It is very disturbing to see states of India and the Indian state itself being run by incompetent & corrupt people.

The story is not about MH or UP or WB. Its not even about India. Its about Indian politicians and not to forget the BABUS sitting in different secretariats.

Infact, these babus are so thick skinned that whipping them will also not serve the purpose.

If politicians loot country like 2G scam openly, we will have 100% fiscal deficit soon.
Only God save that country.

it's surprizing.. maharastra is one of the most industry rich state. thye have taxes very high. still they are high in fiscal deficit.
one can imagine the kind of corruption prevailing there. how sad it is state is in fiscal deficit but it's minister makes money at 100 times rate.
This is the biggest problem where ever congress goes deficit starts automatically. Congress is worse governance. CWG, 2G scam are the their achievements.

Year 2020: India goes bankrupt and gets IMF bailout ?
by mpatel on Dec 13, 2010 06:24 AM

India is on a fiscal train wreck. In good time, A typical Indian household would save money for rainy day. On the other hand, India is booming for last 7 years and Government of India is spending like a drunken sailor. Annual Fiscal Deficit 5.5% of GDP, and total debt has climbed to 75%.

Here is fresh example of Ireland. Ireland enjoyed 17 years of continuous economic boom. It was dubbed as Celtic Tiger. Despite have Fiscal Surplus, balanced budget, and debt reduction, It failed to save enough money for rainy day and ended bankrupt.

Gujarat is not even counted in IT industry due to lack of skilled resource base...Pune rocks..

Gujarats GIFT is still to see any day of light..Banking/Finance/Insurance will stay in Mumbai.. I agree with strong gujarati dominance...

Gujarat's Auto sector struggling.. General Motors setup second plant in Pune.. Mega Engine Plant in pune.. Nano vendors struggling..as Tata motors.. In Contrast Pune has 20 Car/auto plants..and Hyundai 2 more coming..

Gujarat is definitely doing well in Coastal prokjects of Ports/ refinery / Gas power plants..

We can keep talking about specific instances and cases. The fact remains that image of Maharashtra is not what it used to be, while new comers did achieve better growth. It is time, Maharashtra government works hard to improve its fiscal health and target better growth.

Maharashtra GDP is twice than Gujarat..
by Rajesh Choudhary on Dec 11, 2010 03:45 PM  | Hide replies

Maharashtra GDP is twice than Gujarat..
Maharashtra's Economy is 178 Billion USD. Next are UP 105 Billion USD, Gujarat 81 Billion USD..
Maha's growth is 8-9% average if you calculate addition of output then it becomes around 16 billion USD every year..Even with highest growth rate of 11 % Gujarat adds max 8 Billion USD because Gujarat's' GDP is just 81 Billion USD.
On FDI ..RBI report clearly puts figures clearly on its website. Maha gets 35% of Total FDI amounts to 15 Billion USD this year..followed by NCR..karnataka and then Gujarat...
Maha will cross 200 Billion USD by March 2011. Those who are giving figures in rediff must see these figures... Maharashtra is the most growing states in terms of output.. yes Guj and Bihar on % of growth.. but its the output that matters and that is what creates more jobs and opportunities..,
Gujarat has base Oil/mfg/Diamond industries.. Maharashtra has base is Finance, insurance, pharma, chemical, Auto, manufacturing...
So those who think Maha is not leading state.. please rethink.. every state has issues so Maha but it continues to be Industrial Powerhouse... jai Hind..Jai Maharashtra..:)

Maha is not dependant on UP people..:) UP presense is only more in Mumbai.. what developed sections in Nashik, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Jalgaon, Aurangabad... All these have MEGA industrial five star parks.. Who is working there??? UPwalla ?? big joke.. :)

Out of 48 distrcts Maharashtra's 25 districts come into developed or developing.. 13 are backwards or poor..Still Maha long way to go.. and Maharashtrians are working towards getting backwards regions up to speed.. Mega Investments in Konkan and Vidarbha are examples... UP walla are only in demand for construction sites and hawkers...nothin else... Better focus on getting whole UP developed...
