Green revolution: Upliftment of Farmers - Gareebi Hatao. Approx 80% of the population of India benefited. India went from a nation with many famines & deaths to now a net exporter of grains. This was Indira Gandhi's focus and very successful.
Prof. Bhagwati claims that the economic reforms in India have benefited all segments, but fails to offer any data that proves this. He merely makes this assertion "After a considerable debate, it is now generally accepted that the enhanced growth over nearly 25 years year was associated with lifting nearly 200 million of the extreme poor above the poverty line." The improvement data he does cite are mostly for dalits, women.
i m not negative thinker, but we need to take care of the increasing (with the economic boom) communal and regional inequality; otherwise only the so-called elite class only can taste the butter. and if thats is the motto of economic boom, i will rather opt to keep poor
Just 10 years back no one in India can think in dreams also that most powerful country in the world USA will come to third world country India for creating jobs in USA. I can't believe it. India has reached this leave in short time All because of Dr Singh as Finance Minister and now PM. Just 10 years back no one even talks about China and India. Only USA, UK and Europe were King. But time cycle changed so fast that today everyone even in developed countries all are taking about India and China success.

According to my information two sisters, Anushka and Nadia, of Ms Sonia Gandhi had received sixty percent of the kickbacks in this deal i.e. Rs.18,000 crores each. The frequent travel of Sonia Gandhi and her immediate family to Malaysia, Hongkong, Dubai and parts of Europe including London requires to be probed under the law. What requires your special attention is the mode of the travel, not by commercial airliners, but by jets provided by the corporate sector which itself is illegal under the DGCA Rules. I find that often Ms.Sonia Gandhi and family have traveled to Dubai and then traveled onwards on private jets provided by dubious Arab business interests to Europe. It is not clear on what passport they have traveled. In Dubai they were felicitated by agencies of countries which are hostile to India including that of Pakistan.

After reforms it was better for first 7 to 10yrs.. but the situation is very bad... the country is not getting cop-up with the development.. we are having very poor infrastructure.. life is getting worse.. too much stress when u on the road.. on the paper reading we are good but the situation on the roads are bad.
