They should ban all body shoppers
by da dude on Aug 10, 2010 12:25 AM  | Hide replies

Any one who wants to work abroad should be given visa based on point based system , so that a person is judged on the basis of merit not thru the company. In that way the body shop business will closed down slowly.

Ok wise guy, TCS/infy has a setup in US and is even listed on the US stock exchange ( TCS America). So why should they not us ethe visa?

Does MSFT not us ethe H1B visa guys to provide support to their customers? I know so many MSFT H1B visa guys working at Vmware. So isn't that the same thing?

not 'chop shop' but 'body shop'
by Rekha Singh on Aug 10, 2010 12:18 AM  | Hide replies

I think he meant to say 'body shop' and that is somewhat true. Infosys, Satyam, TCS and others misuse the H1 and L visa to get temp workers on the cheap and avoid paying the prevailing wages. They are trying to skirt the intent of these visas.

I am sure Indians would be mad if we got temp cheap workers from Bangladesh to work in my factory. In fact it is impossible to do this based on our work permit rules.

Those are illegal ones! Legally it is impossible to get a temp work permit for workers from Bangladesh to come and work here.

Employees dont get decent cup of tea in Infy easily
by Robin Hood on Aug 10, 2010 12:06 AM  | Hide replies

People queue up and jostle before coffee vending machines in Infy offices just to get a decent cup of tea / coffee. This is open fact. Ask any guy from Infy. So whats wrong in calling this place as chop shop? Infy has the most third class stationery which an employee can get after great struggle. Just ask your Infy friends to show their office notepad of pen and you will know what i am talking about. Infy should stop fancying itself as some kind of Microsoft or Google! It is not deserving even to be mentioned with the real MNCs of the world.

In 20 years China economy is likely to overtake American economy
by David Johnson on Aug 10, 2010 12:04 AM  | Hide replies

in 1981, China economy was not even 5% of American economy, but they have worked hard and China has grown so fast that they have already overtaken Japan's economy and likely to overtake American economy in next 20 years..

once,Indian and China economies were similar , infact Indian economy was a bit ahead of china..

when china can grow so much as to takeover america then why can not India .. !

BIG COUNTRY BUT NO SENSE OF BUSINESS!!
by BAPI PATRA on Aug 10, 2010 12:02 AM  | Hide replies

why USA not banning Microsoft to do business with india, why US backing Blackberry, they should tell to Blackberry, not to do business with india, becoz it has only 'CHOP SHOPs'..

US should think to increase tax sops to their small IT companies rather than blaming to Bangluru.

Because no one will stop us to GROW....

Microsoft and Blackberry have products that are essential to everyone. Infy doesnt have any decent products that are world class. All they are doing is body shopping their employess, boast company to increase share price , so that the promoters stuff their pockets with billions of dollars.

The senator is right; truth is bitter
by Robin Hood on Aug 10, 2010 12:01 AM  | Hide replies

He may not have used refined language but what he says makes perfect sense. Companies like Infy just toil and produce what their pay masters want. Infy does not "make" anything as the Senator had pointed out. It will just labor to assemble whatever is thrown at it. So nothing really wrong in calling it a sweat shot or a chop shop. Maybe Infy should talk to its own employees and see what they think. As the world knows and is open truth, Infy's employees are highly dissatisfied lot and just waiting for opportunities to get out from that hell hole.

On the same token US companies such as Accenture, Deloitte, Ernst and Young, Bearing Point, etc all do the same services that Infy does. Infy does for lesser price and same quality. Why not even one Senator or President Use similar US companies that have set up there offices in India, China, Brazil? They may loose the funding that they provide for there campaigns. Bunch of jokers these guys did not say a word when Enron screwed up!! No other country politicians around the world complain when Nike, Ford or Pepsi sets up there stores to compete with local providers. Just need a reason for loosing the jobs instead of upgrading the resource skills.
