Offer this concession to others also
by kanna ravi on Mar 18, 2009 08:58 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Let the Centre/State offer similar concessions to Bajaj, TVS & others like Land, tax concessions, discounted electricity & water and later we shall speak of TATA's Nano.

Let other players come out with their own vision statements and obviously all the government will fall in line.

Bajaj literally ruined Indian roads by their 3 wheeler auto without any R&D in that and minted money out of that. What can you expect from them?

Let the companies named by you come out with an innovative product like the Nano first. They cannot be helped by the government to innovate I am sure.

MOREOVER, COMPANIES LIKE BAJAJ ARE OUT TO MAKE MONEY ONLY AND THEY DO NOT INVEST IN R&D UNLIKE THE TATAS. THEY HAVE POLLUTED THE INDIAN CITIES BY MARKETING THEIR SUBSTANDARD 2 & 3 WHEELERS THAT DO NOT CONFIRM TO ANY EMISSION NORMS. THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO CRIB NOW.

Yeah?
Create more addiction and dependency on cars, and on petrol.
Create Environment degradation with this factory.
Tie people to a secondary costs of regular parts and repairs.
Discourage the usage of public transport by promting individual transport.
Hijacking land, subsidy, morals of politicians.
He is a 'true hero' who thinks car making has same impact to Earth as salt making.
God help us.

Technology has got the answers to most of our problems. Inspite of our likes or dislikes, we cannot revert back to riding on horses / bullock carts in this age for transportation. Only that new technologies has to answer the problems of fuel consumption, raw material usage at the earliest. I am sure and hopeful that global warming will be reversed in the near future because of scientific technology. Technology is the answer to global warming. Kudos to Tata for bringing up a fantastic fuel efficient car. Jai Ho Tata !!

One day you will say the same thing on behalf of middleclass about Owning Guns. Owning slaves. Owning fat bodies due to heavy eating. Owning drugs. These things also are manufactured and part of development.
I dont blame for the greed that Tata shows. It is natural for the rich to try getting richer. I feel ashamed not proud that people like you dont understand even after pointing the fact to them. But again you may be one of the investors in tata. Then I dont blame you for greed. Greed can only be realized by oneself.

Heist called Nano; Thief called Tata!
by Kabeer on Mar 18, 2009 07:50 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Nano is the biggest Heist India has ever seen and Tata beats Ramalinga Raju hands down!

When the world Auto initially said it is not possible to produce a car under a lac neither they were ignorant not were they arrogant. But then they were only talking about Auto Engineering they were not talking about Financial Engineering.

Nano is a product of convoluted Financial engineering and not auto engineering.

Actual price paid by the collective consumer is 3 Lac and not 1 lac.

1. 9750 Cr virtually interest free loan at 0.1%p.a. translates to 1.35 Lac subisidy if you take 11% bank FD rate (prevailing on the date of loan given to Tata)and Tata produces about 85,000 cars p.a.

2.1110 Acres free land; and no stamp duty and no registration charges.

3. Heavily subidised Power and free water and other tax concessions.

All of these aggregates to atleast Rs.65,000 per car taking the total subsidy to 2 Lac per Nano; over and above the consumer pays 1 lac to buy this piece of tin. It is the tax payers money.

That 2 lac profit is shared by Tatas who pocket major portion and the politician who arranged these facility.

When Gujarat riots were happening Ratan Tata along with Alyque Padamsee vociferously demanded the ouster of Modi. Now the same Tata goes and hugs Narendra Modi whose ouster Tata demanded.

This is what Heist called Nano and Theif called Tata!

Mamata was right when poor farmers farming land was usurped. Farming soil takes millenia to form!

My dear Friend,

Before giving such nasty comments Note the fallowing facts:
Mr TATA made this promise almost 3-4 years back & they are still sticking to that.
This comes from one of the most trusted companies in the world having track record of 100 years without damaging any of their investors.
The price may vary depending on current scenario that one should accept, keep it in mind this is the only techniocommercial marvel India ever produced which whoole world is looking eagerly.

Lets be proud of this be proud IndianInstead of mere commenting,
Though Govts offered discounts that is because its potential to ceate jombs for millions & revenue can be recovered then : alnd value etc automatically go up in that area: Remeber after this Mr Modi became Blue eyed person of Indian Industry over nite
Morever The things TATA have lost during Singur episode is very ugly thanks to dirty politics, zInspite of that TATAs have kept theis Nerves strong
Thanks Ratan TATA,
JAI HO!!!

Business has its own economics. It is meaningless in business to add back the benefits accorded to the corporates. All corporates, IT, Apparel... have such offers.
On converse, appreciate those who venture to deliver on the freebies offered. That will lead to development.

Kabeer, I tend to agree with you.
Tata is profiting by harming tax payers and usrping land cheaply and causing Environment pollution. Mamta had raised these concerns.
Modi is alright normally but i dont know why he succumbed to the pressure of industrialist tycoon syndicates and pressure of job creation. I guess he will slowly realise why Mamta was right.
I believe that horses and oxes are best mode of transport now. Western engineering and industries are dooms for everyone. I wish west ceases to exist.

Mr. Kabir have you checked the facts about other car makers plant. They were also offered similar subsidies when their plants started first. This is done for any business which has the potential to create lot of jobs & taxes for the state.
It is easy to get some figures & make allegations but are always not true . Critisism is the easiest thing to do as you need not have to prove anything but prove somebody wrong. Change your mentality man!

Moron Kabeer, your facts are wrong. Nobody is aksing you the buy the Nano on loan. Every carmaker got a subsidy when their cars were produced initially. Instead of appreciating an Industrialist like Tata who has given employment to millions and also donates millions to trust. Ratan pesonally has only 4% stake in TATA sons and even today lives in a rented house in Mumbai.. Do you know that??

Compare this with Narayan Murthy or Premji who have majority stake in their company and only care about profits.

Get a life .. moron.

Nano makes sense if it can work in village
by Anuj Goyal on Mar 18, 2009 06:50 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The best thing that I would like to have from Nano is it should be tough/'low maintainence', so that and it can be used for commercial purpose in place of Auto and commutation from small city and village.

Roads to villages are no good and I see people from village comes in tractors, trolly and pathetic busses.

If Nano can stand village then only it will be a revolution of the size of 500 Rs Mobile

Hey guys , are our roads equiped to handle the nano rush. With nano comming into the market You will see 1/3 of present bykers and scooterists and almost 1/2 of the prospective consumers will now shift to Nano. Additionally we will find most of the middle class people who always dreamt of a car going in for Nano...... definitely this is the projected philosophy of Tata(A low cost car to the masses) but let me tell you if what he predicts comes true, you will find a traffica jam just after you start from home. It may take full day for people to reach office becuase indian roads are not equipmed to take this load. And where will all these nanos be parked , do you think there are enough garages .... I think there can be huge caos after nano is in market.

Nano - India's pride
by sush kocher on Mar 18, 2009 06:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The private sector has finally proved that if allowed free play can and will deliver; and the TATA's have done it! Congrats! A people's car is NANo; and it ought to give bus/mini-bus overloading a run for their maoney. When Govt failed to promote people's interest; comes along TATA and does just that. Hope our ploiticians take a cue; and stop taking the masses for granted. Indian roads are in for a revolutionary make-over; and the middle-class and the poor-class will have plenty to cheer about; they have just tasted NOKIA; an instrument that has ushered in universal education at its finest; its detractors notwithstanding; successive Govts failed in their quest to secure universal affordable education across the length and breadth of the country. Today from rickshaw-puller, to the old grand-parent in the remotest village/taluk has access to a NOKIA; and has learnt to use the same; in this learning process they have learnt alphabets, numericals, sms,and can communicate with the world; CONGRATS to NOKIA for ushering in FREEDOM of SPEECH, CONGRATS to NANO for ushering in RIGHT to TRAVEL at affordable cost anywhere within the country and maybe even beyond. A Bharat Ratna for Mr. Tata may certainly be on the cards.THANK YOU.

Tata = Steel Co.

"Nano was unveiled at the Auto Expo in Delhi in January 2008. It attracted unprecedented global attention and catapulted Tata Motors onto the world stage." -rediff

Methinks Tata's got more than $ Billion market publicity. Never before has it been that way for a 'low cost/people's' car like VW (well some, but Global media was ltd. then), early Jap sub-compacts & certainly not Korean sub.'s who not only faced hostility but had to pay to be in the game. Tata should cash in by flooding the west with decent models plus the Nano ...

The real problem is Bjajaj 3 wheelers are overpriced @ over 1.25 Lakh's. No or nominal effrot by said Co. to broaden or deepen or create new market. JUst raking it hand-over-fist by flogging a decrepit model on gullible public. Aapro Tata is a steel co. after all. 1 can say Nano is a good way to sell steel ... hehe ...

Silly or sad, there is no 'softop' - canvas or PVC/plastic top model.
