I saw this car while road test in coimbatore six months back. It's better than maruti 800 and roomy.,but sounds like auto rickshaw and its rear engine is vulnerable to motor cycles front tyre.
See the history, .. Generally when ever any thing revolutionary comes, socity /ppl are divided in two parts. One group looks at its positives ,and other looks at its negatives/critical view. I feel proud that an indian dared to think beyond limits.Whole world is feeling proud about this, and waiting for this, and unfortunately our own ppl are critisizing it. Time will prove if it would be successful or not, but its a great effort, and we should salute to TATA for this.

Yes, I agree. Tata is a great industrial house. India's economic wellbeing depends on people like Tata who have commercial intelligence and some degree of corporate and social responsibility.
Nano dont create anything , it will increase density of vechicles in our congested road and make more problems in our road , as a car i will be a failure , dam sure

You can't directly blame on any vehicle for the congestion in Indian Roads. 1. Do you every time follow the road rules? 2. Do you know what are the road rules? 3. Do you know how to drive on the road? 4. Is there any congress men who's thinking about road infrastructure development other then Delhi (Coz Delhi is the face of India so they cant avoid it)? 5. What is the status of National Highway (Most of the Golden Quadrangle project are still pending)? 6. Have you ever drive on rural areas?

No.. Every new field/invension has its pros and cons.Ppl wont enjoy it free of cost right.Every one who buy it will pay tax.Its the duty of the nation to provide infrastructure.Accessibility of luxury/needs should not be snached from hands of common man, only because it mess things.ITs the duty of tax dept to increase tax , or what ever reforms it needs to take. But I strongly believe NANO would prove itself as BOON to common man. Thanks to ratan tata, for providing an option to common man.

no one uses an autorikshaw as aprivate vehicle, moreover in the recent months looking at the average sale of maruthi cars ,the 800 should have been the largest selling vehicle due to its cost but its not wagon R is the largest selling vehicle.so pricewise it will difficult to judge whether nano would be success or not

All the things apart, it is very important that Mr. Ratan Tata had thought of the misery of the middle class Indian travelling on a scooter with his wife & two kids, risking the life of all of them. I feel, the attempt of Mr Tata, to provide a middle class Indian with the most needed private transport vehcle at affordable price, is certainly admirable. This car will find good market potential all over the world.Lets stop pulling each others legs & contribute towards making Indian products/ brands spread all over the world.

By Smart, did you mean the 2 sear european car. Mind you mate. Owners are very proud of their car here.
Nano is going to hit the roads - at long last! A lady in West Bengal wanted to stop the journey of Nano - and she also got a temporary success, thanks to the susceptibility of a section of the people of West Bengal. However, finally truth and dedication have won. But, as a Bengali, I feel bad - but what to do if people are 'successfully' misled by destructive politics?

we have one in tamil nadu who always comes with a package of lies.and one who pretends to shed tears for tamils.
I think we have to get away from this snobbish mentality that 'Cheap means bad'. Look at the Maruti 800 and Nano Specs. I have not given the fuel consumption aspect since these figure are never reliable.
Maruti 800: 800 cc/ Top speed 120 km/hr/ 37 Bhp at 5000 rpm
Coming to the Nano, the car has attempted to increase the hp by reducing the engine speed and while the pulling power is increased at low speed, the top speed will get hit. This means that in second car, the car will pull the load, but you would have to run for quite a distance before shifting to 3rd and 4th, else the speed will reduce and the car wont 'pull'. Same problem while going up steep hills, most of the climbing will have to be done in 2nd gear. With a 2 cylinder engine, there would be very high heat generated and I dont know how the radiator will cope. So the car cannot be run continously for more than say 1 hr or the engine will overheat. What will happen when u get stuck in a crawling traffic jam of Mumbai? Well, switch the engine off and on to cool it.
Anyway, for 1 lakh, this is a nice car and if fitted with LPG, this should sell well. The maint and operating costs at 20 km/liter would be expensive for a two wheeler owner. Otherwise it is a nice car and I will book one. Will it impact the snobs who buy Santro and other cars? Probably yes, since the make believe

Every word I agree but at the end of the day this would increase the volume of traffic on Indian roads and emission too. From people comfort and Business point of view as on today it seems very good, but this will lead to introduction of similar models from all competitors and in long run I feel everyone of us will regret of launching low priced compact cars.

Mate, every new innovation was dangerous to a later generation society. But then we improve that as well. We have problems and we solve them. I guess this life is better than stone age.

Nobody believed in your words when you told about 1lakh car plans and most of them were joking on this. But you stood on your words and proved “Nothings is impossible”. As always we are very proud about your idea of middle family going in car.” what an idea sarji”

Yes..I agree. I remember reading interviews right here in rediff of the Japanese and american car companies..that the Tata is dreaming. Now the dream has come true. rediff should go to those CEOs and ask questions now.
