Tata Nano - The Giant!
by incognito forever on Mar 18, 2009 10:35 AM  Permalink

Congratulations Tata on launching Nano - the likely Giant to take over low end car market.

My predictions say:

Nano will replace the existing taxis - Maruti Omni, Maruti 800 and Tata Indica.

will affect second-hand car market severly.

premium motocycle owners and two-wheeler owning families will most like upgrade to Nano

Its not easy to replace Auto rickshaws.

A high-end two wheeler owner is less likely to go for Nano.

All 2wheeler and car mfrs. have 2 rethink
by poonam dil on Mar 18, 2009 10:23 AM  Permalink

The Nano is nothing sort of a revolution. I have seen it on roads. It is peppy in fact peppier than all the entry level cars and frugal. Even if the engine doesn't live up, the people will find ways to make it work. Another revolution is in accessories space. People will get creative, for sure.
Other mfrs. will have to rethink their products, maybe cut prices. The pent up demand will be too much for Nano. You will see the craze in the coming days.

Nano might be the 'Peoples Car' but beware owners their after sales will ensure that you pay double that amount on services and parts. Words of wisdom from a Tata owner!

this is applicable to almost all cars.
most ofo the people who is going to buy nano is from 2 wheeler user segement. a 2 wheeler is having lesser parts than a car usually. also most of the 2 wheelers in india need very less service and maint. (except the enfield bullet ) normally u can service a 4 strok 2 wheeler for Rs. 400 including the oil and grease. but for a car wether it is nano or alto it may be at least rs.1500 /- then any part change it will be extra, car parts are costlier than 2 wheeler parts. then coming the tinkering and paiting work. most of the indian cities small hitting and scraching on road is a daily affair. any new car on the road will get a dent within 1 month , it may be a small scrach or some times u need a paint job,
buyes should beware of all thease aspects

Rightly said !

Most first generations car buyers are blissfully unaware of such costs and maintenance requirements. Especially people who migrate from 2-wheelers have a generic tendency to compare running cost and maintenance with 4-wheelrs. But the two items are a world apart irrespective of the price difference. A lot of them, switch back to their 2-wheelers after the honeymoon period with the new car is over and use it in social circles as status accessories.

Nano - at long last ...
by Haramohan Roy on Mar 18, 2009 09:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Nano is going to hit the roads - at long last! A lady called Mamata Banerjee wanted to stop the journey of nano - and she also got a temporary success, thanks to the susceptibility of a section of the people of West Bengal. However, finally truth and dedication have won. But, as a Bengali, I feel bad - but what to do if people are 'successfully' misled by destructive politics?

instead of giving subsidies to tata for nano. govt. should invest same amount in improving public transport. build metros, improve buses.
this govt is giving our tax money to tata to make our lives hell with more traffic and pollution.

modern facility comes after basic faciioties. if u dont have roads left for drivng your car, u struck in jam, then what you will do. In singapore, the public transport is best and govt has put many taxes on car use on peak times and tolls on cuty roads. This is the way they are developed and green

Everything true. But the govt has not given Tata our tax money. hey have given discounts on taxes to Tata.

Lack of good infrastructure shud not be a reason to deny you the comfort you want. Talking abt tax money, you have done your part. The govt has not done it by using the tax money the right way.
