If Government is not able to fly Air India profitably, let them wind up Air India like other sick industries like HMT, ITI etc., Already plenty of private players are flying Aircrafts.

yes wind up AIR INDIA and then go begging to the private operators for deploying our troops to the forward borders in case of aggression.DO YOU THINK AIR INDIA IS JUST ANOTHER RUN OF THE MILL AIRLINE.DONT FORGET THE SOCIAL OBLIGATION IT HAS TOWARDS THE INDIAN SOCIETY.

Government has enough power to procure private aircrafts for rents. In any election, government do the same with vehicle as they do not have enough.

Also, what is advantage of relying on AI in emergency as their aircrafts are full of technical problems. They will too much time and by then enemy will be making advance.

tomorrow you will give rekha and rakhi sawant to lalu...even lalu has limitations...praful patel has made air india a top ke raaendi...

Ya making Lalu to be Inchage of Air India is good suggestion. But I am only afraid that like he introduced One more side berth in train ,he would remove the luggage compartment in the plane and make seats for passengers so more no.passengers can travel with AI turning into a profitable organization. P.S.But also be prepared to bump 2/3 dozens of his kins in every flight.

how does that matter if rekha sleeps with 4 guys or 8 guys in a night...she is already immune to it...similarly air indias planes have gone bizzare...and they have the habit of plying ministers for free...i proudly claim that air india is the rekha of aviation
All said and done, Air-India is not a bad airline. What AI lacks is people with vision, courage and ruthlessness to deal with market conditions. More importantly, the plethora of Unions and the management succumbing to their unjust demands have done AI in, e.g. when the staff draw their salaries, where is the need to give them 'incentives' to perform; then what are salaries for? Disband all Unions and everybody will perform. Privatisation is another aspect but with conditions in AI as they are now, there will be no takers.
Mr. Patel, you were the Civil Aviation minister for the last 5 years or so. Are you also not accountable and should your head not be the first to roll..?
