IT IS EASY TO REDUCE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF AIR INDIA
by THEKKA DAMODARAN on Jul 07, 2009 10:31 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Mr Praful Patel,

Revamping top brass and partial divestment is not going to solve the present financial crunch / crisis of Air India. There are many other ways and means to reduce the present financial burden of Air India by way of adopting effective cost cutting measures, revamping the entire administrative structure, inducting new methodology for procurement and provision of various items with utmost austerity measures. Many more viable and effective measures are available to solve the present problems of AI. I am an Ex-Defence Personnel having served the Department of Defence Production for around 42 years in different Departments and offered a number of suggestions for cost cutting and reducing OHE etc., In case, the honourable Minister permit me, I can get associated with AI for working out various options to reduce the expenditure/cost cutting etc., and thereby ensure sufficient profit for the pioneer Airliner in the country

You miss one very important point about pathetic customer services and utter disregard for safety and comfort of passenger. These AI employees can do anything with passengers. Based on my experience with AI, I will never ever fly with them evenif in case of emergency and free ticket in business class.

Even the air hostess are rude, no smile in their face while serving. Seem like kaamwali bhai's. Bring changes in flying staff too, passengers no more want to see these rude old ladies any more.

Employees are to be blamed
by girish nair on Jul 07, 2009 10:17 PM  | Hide replies

infact employees themselves are responsible for such a huge loss. they hardly work and always look for an oppurtunity to get overtime wages....this is done thru delaying flights regularly.......its the same case with indian airlines......which has got merged with AI

When you know the ratio of employees to flight is more, you don't need internationally reputed independent directors to be hired to say that and they again walk away with huge sums of money ripping tax payers for the whole mis-management

Air India: Performance and steps to achieve the same:
by Pradeep Jauhar on Jul 07, 2009 09:58 PM

The Minister for Civil Aviation has hinted,as a result of the pressure from PMO, to restructure the top brass management and detail steps to bring a turnaround in Air India in two years. Good luck to the Minister and Air India! Unfortunately, in the past, all steps taken to rejuvenate have only resulted in more losses and creating a hole out of which Air India is going to find it very difficult to come out and be a success.First , there has to be a will to take drastic steps and not to dilly dally as they have been doing in the past.

Govt. action to revive Air India
by Anil De on Jul 07, 2009 09:43 PM  | Hide replies

Govt. steps appear to be in the right direction. Only caution - too many cooks should not be brought to spoil the food! Also, the Hon'ble Aviation Minister should be removed. He is equally responsible for the present condition of the national carrier!
