You cannot get the film!

If you go to a foreign country for work, lotof Indians go...

Someof them r brilliant and some not...But you see some of the normal I.Q acquire higher position. Why?

A westener things how a foreigner adjust with the system. Those who adjust will go up fast. Those who has difficulty to change struggle...

Priyadarsan... and 1000's of cinemas r released in India. Most of them r aimed at money making... only. They r made in Indian taste.

also look how many people have benefitted. ARR, Rasul, acctors... Well even Big B cannot step on Oscar red carpet and kids from Mumbai...

So you shuld think hw western world assess people as well...

Prasad U, when you use terms like "white Skin" that tells me that you are a pure racist. That tells me in turn that you will never move to higher level of civilization with this type of mind set.

‘slumdog..’ has not shown any poverty!!
by Saugata Banerjee on Feb 24, 2009 11:16 AM  | Hide replies

what poverty was shown in this film?

surprising but truly, if u study the film, this film has not shown any poverty of India but it has shown the dirty slum or dirty India or lawlessness!
it has shown the wastage, huge garbage everywhere in slum!

what a common man wants or relates to poverty?
that is : roti, kapra, makan(food, cloth, house)
this film has not shown the problem of the above three in slum!
has this film shown that someone is foodless, clothless or houseless prior to riot? and any sequel of incident that parents r unable to feed their children? parents r binding or sending their children for begging?
uprooted children basically it showed ,were the victim of riot! jamal’s mother was killed and so, he was orphan and went to slum dweller hand! and so with the other child who lost their parents or parents less!
this can happen to any middle class child also if some one lost the feeder!
using the child , exploiting the child as child laborer are the anti-social work who may kidnap the child also! begging by the child was not due to those child poverty but they were used as a money earner by the underworlds!

so, the much hype that this film has shown reality of India or poverty, does not hold it’s basic! it has only shown the anti-social work where childs were forced to do such!
so, as per my view, this film is a total failure in terms o

Well u should think...

All that kids from poverty area were in the Oscar's!!!

Big B , Ash all nd all dream is to go there...

Lookhw much they have spend for theese kids to go in red carpet.

Flight charge in business class/ first class will be more than 2 lakhs!!!

then 5 star hotels min 80,000 for 2-3 days...

per person will go above 4 lakhs!!!

An Indian actor , actress, producer or anyone wont spend that much for those kids...

@ Banerjee,

The producers of SDM showed what was a fact in Mumbai... is'nt Dharavi a fact? Your statement of saying that they wrongly protrayed india and indian poverty will not change the hard facts and problems that exist currently.

As such, I personally feel that this movie was not that great to go for an Oscar, but the direction was good and story well told. I believe there is no need to rake this issue.

This is a movie for gods sake and not a documentary. Whats wrong with you people? How does it matter what it showed?

If they show New York under water in some movie does it make it true?

Movie : Please read the definition of a movie.

this is not the answer what point i have raised!come to the point where u like people and media r arguing that it has shown poverty, reality and all! i have made my points on that hype and not on movie itself!
movie itself is a bad movie, if it would have made by indian but u know our 1600 years slavery attitude, people likes to be slapped by britishers or arabian!!

There is no doubt that INDIA is great we have made several development in various field. matter of fact what we are discussing here is not about the greatness of india or indian people. We are talking about the film quality which bring us 3 Oscars to us.
As my frnd point out whether we would showcase the negative stories of our own for the sake for stupid awards then i would say YES, but not for the award for the sake for this socity. If they lack in some thing it is our responsibility to guide them to the rite path, if its not working they we have to go to at extream limit.
Regarding this movie, what we hve to do is to grab leasson form this and try to eradicate this social evil of slum for our city. If we criticise this film after we get rid of whole slum then there is a point.
I am sure the director of this movie didnt went to a film studio to shoot the seens of slum it is not artifical, I am challenging those people who can say this film is a sake of actual INDIA||||

Unless you show the real problems people face everyday in Indian Slums the government will never do anything for them. Covering up things will never found solutions. If we are now making lot of movies paying attention to gays and lesbians in Bollywood why people protesting movie on India's greatest problem.

You are angry because you don't want people to see the real india. You want to deceive them by showing Karan Johar & co's glamorous lies on Indian life.

Accept the fact dear..the pain will be less...We are poor people and they are much much much superior than us in every aspect of life. You just give me one example where we score higher..(Now please, don't go back to our culture and all those stuffs)....They are superior people...accept it and try to learn from them...it's good for us ...

Mr.Somnath, you do not know the western world. they are not at all "much much superior" at all. In fact they are much much inferior than Indians in all respect - Intelligence, culture, social values. We Indians can do multiple jobs at a time, they are only good in one type of work. If they were superior, Indians would not have got jobs, speciality jobs, intelligent jobs. If you go to European countries, Australia, US, you will find that most of them are lethargic, hooligans, drug addicts, do not want to do any job. Slums are one side of our country and are present in Big cities only. Our country is not only big cities. We basically live in villages where there is no slum. You should be proud of our great country which has so many good things which no other coutry in the world has. Slumdog is a British Film made by a British who always will show uglier part of India, because they had to leave India because of Hitler and also the freedom struglers of India. All Western countries to-day envy Indian status to-day. I only do not understand why Indian filmwalas, Media project oscar in such a big way, that is a matter to be researched.

to Mishra: another indian still having sweet dreams! lol...first, indians have no work ethics..I am talking about the bosses..Indians are used to work like slaves ..no work-like balance..indian society is used to such absence of human rights..in india no work, no money, live on streets..simple formula..western world is a million times better than Indian society...lol Indians are more intelligent than western people?? who said? indians getting speciality jobs?? haha..its not becos indians are intelligent but becos they come dirt cheap..cheap IT people, engineers and scientists!..give indians 300 dollars a month they will work their ass off..this doesnt go well in western countries becos they need good money to lead a healthy lifestyle..no country envies india ..everyone in the world knows that india is full of cows and poor people..also know that jobs are goin their becos professionals there come very cheap..the world laughs at us..becos we indians are stupid enuf to make our country like like..its a shame..mainly beocs of the dirty ploticians

You are trying to console yourself by saying so! Forget about the US and other western countries, we are even no match for certain Arabian and south-east Asian countries. When we have nothing to say, we Indian love to go back to our 5000 years old civilization, culture, social values and all those things...No matter what you think about western people and culture, the fact is that they have almost eliminated poverty long back and way ahead in each and every aspect of life.

"lethargic, hooligans, drug addicts" cannot achieve these...you are 100% wrong. They are hardworking, sincere, disciplined and most of all they love their country. Are we?

Come out of this thinking buddy. India is gr8, Indian culture is gr8, Indian scientists, Engineers, Doctors, IT Professionals are gr8 and they are next to us. JAI HIND

If we can eliminate corruption in india, then india will be great. I live in a western country and when I went back to india few months ago, i realised the level of corruption in india is quite high, which is really sad. The day we get rid of corruption, india will be on the top of the world, untill then it's going to be tough.
