Good to hear and congratulations to the team. But the country has no effective mechanism to reclye & dispose e-waste. No body will goto repair a 500 bucks machine. it will be a use and throw one.
My sincere congratulations to all the minds who have designed this LAPTOP.This will surely lead to extensive computerisation of the entire nation similar to reach of mobile extension.This will also fulfill the urge of all those yearned for LAPTOP but could not get the one because of cost inhibition.A day will come when students all over the country will carry just ebooks and do away with books.I pray that the government should offer all kind of help to encourage the developement of this LAPTOP and simillar kind of projects.
Its just another hype fom India what happened to Nano car that pricetag was not feasibleso is this $10 laptop, its just not possible, either its an empty box or the government should cover the rest of the 9990 dollars per laptop.

that is what everybody said about the nano 1 lakh car too!! agreed it may not be exactly 1000 and maybe 1500 or 2000 with final costs...but still the initiative is good! in the west while research is heavily invested in it is always for profits and never for the poor man! even something precious like aids drugs costs are driven up by the "developed" nation's corporates....at a time like this, india's initiative which is solely for the poor children! lets wait and see instead of snub it right away!
i can't trust Mr. arjun singh. He promise to give after 6 months that mens after completion of election. Now i beleive it is pure gimmicks to get vote. I am very surprise why our english media which generaly favors congress party not showing this news on their media often & often like malegaon or manglore issue. Why this media does not go thro in detail & find out the truth & present before public prior to election or they all knopws that it is election gimmicks.
If it happens than its my heartly congratulation to the manufacturer. (if govt than to thegovt) & I hope it happen. But I cant beleive it because if U afdd the cost of basic materials used to manufacture all its components & add the cost of labor with cost of quality control & adding cost of packing & transportation it is not possible except government going to give huge subsidy. If governmrent giving with subsidy than need to declare in advance so that people can know. Other thing u need to add the cost of softwares to it. If this happens students need internet to use it.

This is a stupid gimmick. Another hoax like "Simputer". This device has no display, no keyboard and needs to be connected to a PC/laptop for working. has anybody seen its photo, specifications.
