Re: For those who dont live in MUMBAI!!!!!!!

Yes, I sometimes wonder how many of the people who write here the comments have actually day in day out travel by local trains and experience the pain of crowd, sweat, fast life as a common man in Mumbai is facing throughout his life. Now common man here means everyone and not just a marathi. To be honest it is becoming more and more difficult to settle in Mumbai. There are people and only people everywhere. For commuting everyone has to rely only on local trains. Infrasturcture project are not simply not moving fast. This much population density is also one of the reason behind this slow progress. On a Average a mumbaikar needs to travel at least for 2-3 hours daily. Life here is so much mechanical.

With time we should expect this to improve, however situation is getting bad day by day.

ful fudu...

-Indians do dry their underwear in their balconies in areas that they stay in London!
-Indians speak in Hindi, Gujrati & Punjabi in London.
-British mainstream music today is heavily influenced by Indian Music.
-Their favourite food is Indian food today.
-Indians do have their state & language wise committees there & do celebrate their festivals there. There is a Maharashtrian NRI organization in the UK.
-London had a big problem with slums until the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone decided to tackle it head on. Does the Mayor of Bombay ever try to do that???
-Gordon Brown is the PM of the UK, not a 2 bit, rowdy, goonda talking in a local dialect!

Prince Phil,

Why are you ignoring the basic issue? Do you live in Mumbai? If yes since when? You will never understand what a true Mumbaikar is going through.
Not even Marathi but other poeple also have the same feeling about from UP/Bihar & their non sense politicians.

It may be a proud to you to dry underwear in balcony or to shit on the rail track.

It may be proud to be not loyal to the country/land that you live/serve.

It may be proud to you to create law & order situation even in London, such that Ken Livingstone needs handle on it.

But remember all Indians are not like you, there are cultured people also living.

If this is true, why the bladdy people come to Mumbai for food & shelter?

Putting some useless data is not the solution.

Check this out -
9)Film City Noida U.P has annual turnover of Rs.28 crore

In Mumbai, Salman Khan alone charges 50Crore for one film..

These states are the poormost in India.

Dear Raj, Rather than tellin this to Raj, why dont you explain this to Lalu bhalu, nithish ... whateva..
This will help Northies getting employed in there own state and do not crowd alone in Mumbai. Nobody wants to fight against any specific community, better all live happily at there own homes.

Targetting poor
by aray rupa on Nov 07, 2008 02:21 PM  | Hide replies

Mumbai is addressed as economic capital of the India , its not known as economic capital of Maharastra alone..
Is this article targeted at vacating only poor class biharis and UPites out of Mumbai or its a general calls given all the migrants highly skilled to unskilled people.
If we can welcome a highly skilled bihari as a CEO of a company then we should be generous enough to welcome a poor laborer who toils to build multiplexes and luxiourous apartments
for us.
Metro cities are considered as backbones of our economy and they don’t merely stand for a particular state alone
I think its high time that we understand each others importance and stop hurting the sentiments of people

Traditionally Marathi people are not inclined towards business but fields like Art, Sports, Literature, acemamics, etc. Thats why you have all great marathi people in all this fields. There are many marathi people sitting on the highest positions in various companies.
But also there are very rich marathi business persons like Garware, Kamat, Chitale, Bhosale, Salgaonkar, Dandekar Chaughule, Samant & the list goes on. Do don't know this because they are not P3 personalities.
Do you also know that in India maximum number of Mercedez are in Kolhapur?

Save Mumbai
by Suraj Singh on Nov 07, 2008 12:58 PM

SAVE MUMBAI.

Although India remains 70-80% rural, it now has the largest urban population in the world – many of whom are slum dwellers.

70% of Mumbaikars live in slums in subhuman conditions.

Over 40,000 slums are built on the main water supply pipelines of Mumbai alone.

Every day, 550 million gallons of drinking water must be brought to Mumbai from a distance of over 100 miles. Three million people live with no toilet facilities.

60% of the formal sector jobs in Mumbai are concentrated within a two-mile radius of Flora Fountain around the Fort. There are 144 jobs for every 100 residents in the Fort area, creating enormous congestion.

900 families migrate every day to Mumbai from different parts of India.

Each day, despite large amounts of recycling, Mumbai produces 7000 tonnes of garbage.
