Hey Jonny - Now don't try to justify your corrupt and selfish nature on low salary. By no means is Indian Givernment salary low. If you are paying higher prices for provisions so do we. Our jobs can go any day if we do not perform or fall sick. Government babus will warm their seats for years together without accountability. Private sector pays tax on our full taxable income. You have the luxury of under table tax free income. Yet inspite of all this all that you Government servants know is to apend 45 minutes for morning tea, 2 hrs for lunch and another 45 minutes for evening tea. Add to this the holidays. You get paid a full years salary for working less than half a year. Now stop comparing the salaries as you know you are way ahead of the pvt sector salaries

luk my freind you cant justify SIN .. in no way... if you talk about pvt. companies employees i am sorry bt you people stand nowhere in front of them in terms of quality work... and more over the salary hike you currupt people are enjoying today is just becoz we pvt companies are one of the highest taxpayer in this country.... the govt. flat that you enjoy with subsidised electricity bills and all is just becoz we pay this bloddy hefty amount of taxes.. that you people misuse...

by Vineet Agarwal on Aug 18, 2008 12:57 PM  | Hide replies

Pay hike for govt staff. Well its a good thing as a part but on the other side of this picture did these policy maker even think about the contractual employee of this country. These days most of the company and Government offices are hiring people on contract basis and these people are doing the same work as other government official are doing this Pay hike for govt staff make a huge difference between these two caterogry. Just think about it.

I am agree with the fact. I am also a contractual employee. In my office, the permanent employee do nothing, but their personal work.
In my opinion they are burden on Indian economy and are playing role of a cancer in our growth.

They always ask 'what they are geting'?, but never think what they are giving. .... I have lot of dirty words in my minds which suits them, but due to limitation, I can't write. I think all you have understand.

Politicians are better than beurocrats
by Shreeram Shah on Aug 18, 2008 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

India is hell bent due to sheer negligence by our beurocrats in top level. These suit clad people, wearing tie look very gentle but they are rawdy, corrupt, lazy(kamchor), thugs. Do you all know....maximum of top beurocrats make tour to USA, UK, Germany etc in order to learn new programme so that these could be implemented in our country but what they do...these blood suckers do sightseeing...enjoy the priveledge of five star hotels...and come back home claiming some fake bills to govt. fund.
Very few people know that all kind of corruption is done by top beurocrats....instead people use to think politicians are to be blamed for corruption... But in fact..what happens..the beurocrats do scam...make crores of money by corruption....when it gets exposed by some honest one...then these beurocrats approach politicians to take shelter. Then the poiliticians, the foolish who does not know how to read file, makes money by sharing in the earnings by the beurocrats... This is the nexus going on.... Very unfortunate condition prevails in India: on one hand the pseudo educated top beurocrats are blood suckers and on the other hand indin democracy generate foolish landgrabbers, goonda, mafia people as rulers.

u cannot blame beurocrats alone...the whole systems is faulty...it's just as simple as tht u are giving authority to a person to freely manage Rs 2000 worth of assets at his own liberty but giving salary of Rs 20000-30000 only...and expect him to be abs. honest.

All part of Election Campaign !!!
by Guest on Aug 18, 2008 12:47 PM  | Hide replies

its sad that just to enhance their chances in coming elections govt. didn't hasitate to put an extra burden of 22,131 crore rupees on country, even at this point of time when inflation is towering.
Salary hike is not bad but simultaneously quality of work should also be increased. In India if you even talk about Govt. aided facilities all of a sudden a thought arrives i our mind that "Sarkaari hai yaar .. bekaar hi hoga...." first govt should step in to wash out this mentality and this can only be done by improving quality and for this very firstly the currupted people should be kicked out of their jobs..

Payhike for Govt Emplyees
by suresh kumar on Aug 18, 2008 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

First and the foremost the topic it self is wrong. You have to think broad minded and avoid this general conceptions.

It is like asking " are all your wives were virgin when you married them " can any body answer this question.

Govt organisations are non profit making ( here i am not talking about PSU's ). Any company's performance depends upon its management and not its employees. You can ask any businessman he will answer the same.

There are dozers and useless staff members in prvt organisations also. he may through a good reference, she may be the sr.s girl friend, boss's chamcha etc.

so whenver ther is hike in the payment of govt employees we raise a huge cry on this. arn't govt employees human.

Wont you ask for increment from your company when your company is doing good / or you have been working there for more than one year;.

paycommission is once in 10 years. who says govt emplyees are non productive. arent they part of the economy which is booming and developing and competing in the international areana.

please avoid topics like this, which is in very bad taste.

Note : i am not a govt employee, i am working in a pvt. firm in UAE

Working with government is nothing but willing to do service to people. They are comparing their salary with highly paid IT companies but they forgot conveniently with people working in private companies and daily wage workers. They are getting salary from the people money coming to governemnt in various forms of Tax. There should be tolerable percentage of total income should go as salary. For example 20% Salary & Wages, 50% for Agriculture like that. Now service concept has gone but employee concept has been adopted conveniently.

What Mr Suresh kumar is saying has substance. Govt employees are not very highly paid - compared to employees of major corporates. But the "major conrporates" are very few - majority of work force working with private sector is highly underpaid, exploited and get no social security. The other side of coin can not be ignored - the output of govt departments leaves much to desire. You can see the kind of treatment a citizen gets at police stations, courts, Income Tax, Sales Tax (VAT) etc. The situation is actually pathetic. Despite the noise about India being one of the most promising economies - the services being delivered by Govt / Govt deptts. can well be compared to the most underdeveloped countries. Considering these facts - citizens of this largest democracy have all the right to question the raise in govt employees salaries - after all the amount given to govt employees is the money paid as taxes by citizens, citizens also have right to demand improvement in services - particularly services pertaining to law enforcement and justice - education and health come next in priority.

You are in UAE that is why u support them without knowing the details.
1)get a ration card without paying
2) get a birth certificate
3) get a death certificate of ur dear ones then you will know how cruel and inhuman the govt staff is. even if there are some kind hearted soul in this dept they will not allow them to give you the certificate
Get marriage certificate
For passport dont tell me you didnt pay local police. the local police will give certificate to only thugs and criminals without taing money.
Land registration you cant do without bribes
bank loans without bribe a dream

Mr. Suresh Kumar,
are you talking about the UAE Govt. employees or the Indian Govt. employees. Even in the grave yard they need money. Give them any pay hike, they will come to office only around 11 AM and then leave by 3 PM and work an hour in between. That one hour also, they clear files for those who have paid them. You are talking non sense. In Private companies, you can complaint about an employee and get work done. Non productive workers are the companies liability. Not the public liability. We are not taxed for non productive employees of pvt. companies.

Government employees should work without taking bribes. Only then public will have sympathy for them. Selective honest employees are of course excluded from this comments.

You are talking only bookish, I think you have not any experience with any government department. You can compare the private bank and government bank in private banking, they always please to help you or even they can’t able at least they will try, and now go to government bank their first answer for any query (KAL AANA) come tomorrow. They don’t want to do a simple job, and give you thousand of reason for their incompetence. Please visit at least 4 to 5 government department then put our view.

When we talk about pay rise to govt. employees we ask outcomes. NICE and GOOD article writer. But you never write about outcomes of MPs and MLAs man, b'cas you can't write anymore as partial journalist in this nation. Would you mean, all private employees are doing good to the nation? If you have any data you put comparative statement or table between them before writing such a non-sense writing gentlemen. You have no mouth when govt waived lacks of crores on behalf of farmers and minted by themselves. may be you too got a part of cake my dear educated favouring article writer!!!
keep some morals when you put your pen dear. I can do but not others is the system now Indians are following. I am not saying this is right or that is right. But do justified saying dear before you do the writing to get favours from big bosses losing your own self.

just ask those people who lost their dear ones just becoz of negligence of a doctor in Govt. hospital..
Just ask sumone who has been retired for two years and had yet not received his pension , just becoz he is not willing to bribe them....

Govt Staff
by Sandeep Biswas on Aug 18, 2008 12:41 PM  | Hide replies

Government Staff do less of Government Work and more of personal work. They start various businesses in the name of their Wife, Children and operate themselves. They just come to office to sign the muster roll and move out immediately to take care of their other business. By this they get triple income. One from the Government, one from their business and the balance from under the table (which I am sure every citizen is aware of)

Output
by ramakrishnan balasubramanian on Aug 18, 2008 12:41 PM  | Hide replies

The output would be nil based on my just recent experience. My residential telephone at Kolkata is dead for almost fifteen days now and inspite of talking to the SDO on a daily basis the same has not been rectified. They have that arrogance to tell that I can take up with their higher authorities and they have advised me to take up with their Chief General Manager, Calcutta Telephones. They will be charging rent as well for these fifteen days. I am thinking of switching over to Reliance wireless landline set so that one need not be at the mercy of the Government employees. With more money in their packet, the Government employees will be able to spend more time away from their office
