Sunder Raj & others
A sincere request to you, don't try to make these so called educated aware citizen of India, what Govt job is all about.
People here know nothing about govt machinery , they have zero civic sense , they are kids of small time dukandar (who obviously dont pat tax)
and only interaction they have with Govt servant, is that traffic police walla, who try challan them when they cross red light, or take wrong loan, whom they refuse to pay challan, first by saying they happene to know this and that and than by offereing bribe.
So Sunder Raj, let them live these educated live in dungeon, they dont know their nation, their system, their govt, all they do is watch movies and create impression, they are too dumb to understand , forgive and forget them
They know nothing , if life is so easy whay dont they join Govt Job, why they are more interested in doing data entry job .

To Rahul Sharma
You must have head the old song...

"Yaar hamari baat suno...Eisa ek Insan Chunoo... Jisne paap na kiya hoo ... Jo papi na Hoo... (From Rajesh Khanna movie)

It is ridiculous to term private people as “ clean , fair , productive” etc and govt people just opposite of that.
Hope You must have watch ManiRatnam’s Guru.

Everyone including Government servants are victim of the system which is being placed in this country.

It is highly unjustified to blame blanketly to govt staff on the auspicious occasion of their pay hike. We all know the "problems" and unfortunately we are also a part of problem , we are not a part of solution.

Since we are not a part of solution , we are seeing such a acerbic reaction about govt staff.

Respected Rahul Sharma ji,

Why don't you throw light to the educated people living in dungeons about the systems and services offered by the govt departments?
They would continue to live in dungeons unless somebody like you can tell what govt departments are doing that other lesser mortals are not aware of.

water always flows from top to bottom so does work culture.....If the people sitting at top- Ministers( who are chosen by the suffering ,poor, bechari janta) demand some things be it a change in system ,be it a work related policy,be it money by the beaurucrats they have to give it.They dont come in contact with public but the lower officer does who collects and gives a share to his superiors and the chain moves on....

work is not done speedily because the senior officers have to do the jobs assigned verbally to them on urgent basis....by the MPs,MLAs,Board members etc who do not let them work independently
why not start cleaning the system by cleaning from the top level first who are not beaurucrats but political Ministers...chosen so lovingly on basis of caste, region etc but certainly not competency by the bechari satayi hui janta.

people cricizing sarkari culture must take the responsibilty of spoiling the system from top by chosing illiterate, incompetent ,selfish MPs and MLAs who become important or may be ministers in the various ministeries and demand compliance to their whims and fancies.

Pay hike for govt staff: What about guarantee of output?
by James Bond on Aug 18, 2008 02:13 PM  | Hide replies

It is really surprising that who is asking this. Have you ever asked our politicians about their performance. On the contrary their salary was revised once double and again triple to match global standards. What is the performance of Shibu Soren, Laloo et al. You may question that Laloo has brought the loss making Railway to profits. Do you want to know the real story. He increased the quota of tatkaal tickets, increased its period to 1-week from 1-day. If I have to travel Mumbai next week I have to pay 150%, this is laloo's way of not increasing train fare.

Let me come back to perforamnce of govt employees. Gone were the days, when employees use to report late, move early and perform nothing. My brother was joined as Hindu stenographer is working as biligual and moreover he is PA but handling PS job which is equivalent to Section Officer a gazetted post.
Government employees according tome are given nothing. This raise was due in 2006 January and when this is given 2008-mid. 40% of arears are given this year rest 60% arears will be given next year till when???? Till next year or till September 2008. Poor govt employees money is eaten by FM.

Even today there is no difference in the attitude of the government employees compared to earlier. They have everything they need, good salary, good benefits (so many paid holidays, vacations),retirement benefits, job security and yet they want more. In pvt sector they get higher salary because they have no pension, no job security plus they have to provide output constantly. How many hours per year do the government employees work compared to pvt sector employees?

Pay Hike
by aga on Aug 18, 2008 02:10 PM

5th Pay commission imbalanced many States and PSUs, salary of govt. servants are linked to inflation index, why such steep rises. It is a robbery on tax payers. One can see in society, majority of plots/flats/houses are owned by govt. servants. They are paid 4-5 times comparing to private sector (barring 1%).
All govt. servants deserve gallantary awards, they are the Masters of public and all politicians bow before them.

Government Employees Deserve a Pay Cut and Dismissal
by Sam on Aug 18, 2008 02:04 PM  | Hide replies

Government employees are underpaid is it? My foot!!!!!!! If you consider their productivity, they are among the most overpaid lot of employees anywhere in the world. After all, which other democratic country will pay its employees salary for not doing anything?

The mother of all problem is the blanket job security provided to the government employees. Their performance should be evaluated every year and atleast 10% of them should be summarily fired. This is the single most important change we need to bring about in our country if we wish to survive as a nation in the coming days.

What if your’s salary is reduced by 20-30% on the ground of "non-performance" by your "Maliks" who you dubbed as VP or CEO or any other name and asked to sit extra 2 hours? How will you manage your family , specailly children's need and future?

You may change your job but remember all employees wheatr govt and private cannot do it simply.

So Please,Please........ Please before giving suggestion of salary reduction in think 100000000000 times… for humanity’s sake.

see all the govt proffesional including sweeper to IAS are lazy fellows but very very few of them are dedicated in their proffesional.
the salaray rise indirectly raises the ppeoples food salt, commodity and food prices...

govt employees are getting more money thru bribes..
now why the hellllll the govt raises thier salary..

salaried persons are giving salary to govt employees in terms of TDS and daily wages (coolies) are giving thru tax while they thier buying salt itself...

govt has to provide a law after raising their salary if any employee performance is less. Then immediately they has to terminate from his/her employment without any enquiry and further they cant approach the court and union...
weather govt is ready to provide the law...

corporate employees are getting hike every year start from min. 20% to as maximum as. But, in this 6th pay commission, govt. has given peanuts of 20% hike to the employee who are do actual works in the govt. sector, that is also after 10 years. this is just eye wash to the people of this country in the name of pay commission. Actually govt. employees have been fooled by the govt.

PAY WITH RESPONSIBILITY
by ILANGO on Aug 18, 2008 01:59 PM  | Hide replies

I am not against for giving more pay provided they should have responsibility. They should not serve as an assistant of the king. They are the servants of the people who pay. But here they treat the public as their slaves. It should be dispensed with and to serve to the public and get high pay lik in private sector. - ILANGO PANDIARAJAN

Its important to note that Government just throws public money to get votes. Even to Abhinav Bindra they announced huge prize money. This is all our hard earned money and they just give like that. Why dont the ministers pay from their own pocket. I agree that Bindra has created history for India- but why public money. There is no accountability of people in government service. Let their salaries be raised by 2-3 times, but get them to work. No one in the government- even our harvard educated PM is doing anything.

And funnily enough, they are giving it to somebody whose father is giving a Rs.200 crore worth hotel as a gift. If they had atleast given it to some poor but worthy upcoming guy, we can understand. People's money to some already rich man! What a mockery!

can anyone explain how this hike fig is coming to21% or 40% ? according to me, considering the "DP" already available , this Hike is not more than 10% to 15% . So Govt servants , pls dont rejoice and rest of India no need to take tension.
Congratulations to the FM for marketing this so called 'HIKE' and in turn adding to inflation

Many things are yet to be made known. The DA rate at which they would freeze the pay, whether the DA to the frozen extent is taken care of in pay fixation, the new DA rates for the subsequent period, etc. are unknown. If they merge only DP, then DA is due from July 04, but if they consider revision based on pay DP but merge DA upto Jan. 06 we will be losing DA for January 2004 to June 2006. Another important thing is, when the arrears would be paid - 2008-09 means upto anytime March 09. We have to wait for some more time.

You are right. there is nothing special in this pay commission. Peanuts have been distributed to the real govt. workers. The govt. might have given good hike to the IAS, IPS and other babus. they belong to the 5% category. this 20% hike is also after 10 years. but, in other sector, minimum 20% hike is available every years. You can imagine how corporate employees are enjoying. The peanuts given to the employee is nothing infranst of this 13% inflation.

Good that u have raised salary hike for Govt employees after 10 years.

However I need one assurance from u that the extra budget required should not be raised by increasing the tax / by increasing the housing rate for salaried ppl of private / Mncs.

Hope u know already Govt employees are provided with perks allowances, subsidary loan facilities for housing and car, car maintenance and petrol allowance.

I hope u culd understand that needs are same for every individual whether he is of PSU or private/mnc salaried.

We expect wise decision from u and not any explanation stating reasons for noting doing so........!!!!!
