Government/PSU employees
by Prem Mohan on Oct 11, 2007 07:50 PM

All Government and PSU employees in India have decent salaries, job security and the opportunity to make extra money by crooked means. If they are not satisfied, they should leave and look for high paying jobs in the private sector.

Government/PSU employees in India are indolent, lazy, incompetent, inefficient and often corrupt. The terms of their service are such that they do not have to work. Yet they draw fat salaries and lord it over us. I think this situation is unacceptable. But who will bell the cat?

PAY PACKAGE FOR IAS OFFICERS
by sameer paul on Oct 11, 2007 07:39 PM  | Hide replies

babus are pretending they are doing the country a favour.agreed they need a pay hike as all other govt servants.but why is no one talking aboutsimilar package for armed forces officers and jawans who face hardships and even give their lives when these babus sit in air conditioned offices.babus stay in prime location houses in cities whereas an armyman sits in a tent slogging it out.if babus demand so much , an army officer should get much more.

It is time these clerks are shifted to 2 BHK flats in dwarka
by Prof R K Gupta-India on Oct 11, 2007 07:33 PM  | Hide replies

We have pampered civil services too much in euphoria of independence and our constitutional writers were too generous. The civil services are right.Their jobs should be 3 years renewable contract basis all Junior class I and above and they should be kicked on their ass if there is public complaints and poor results. They must settle for rs 15 to 25 000 per month salaries or are welcome to quit. I am ready to take over as Secretary to GOI in any department at rs 25000 gross salary and a 2 room modestly furnished flat and rs 2000 car allowance and I will maintain my own car.
Those who dont want these terms may please quit.
The prevention of corruption Act should be changed for removing permission for prosecution from more corrupt seniors and make life imprisonment and confiscation of entire property to national treasury.
bahut maza aa gaya hei inko sambha. Time to start shooting down their salaries perks and protections. And simply ban all lights on cars and orderlies.Let them take loan and have cars if they want.
Indian government must come out with a white paper on how US system works and then suitably scale it down as per per capita GDP of India. Stop- pampering these corrupt ,arrogant and mafia networked clerk. Only India has such bad services and too much powers and money to policemen and babus. Time to fix them, before civil war is widespread in country and they are picked by people and assaulted. They should not live in fool's paradise.Above applied to judiciary too.

Prof R K Gupta,

I am often in admiration for what you write.

But not this time.

Babus may have been pampered but our
civil services too need to be paid well
so that they are not attracted to ghoos
and must be properly incentivised from
year to year so that they work in the
natioal interest.

Your being ready to work for (what I call)
peanuts, suggests a monkey-like attitude.

How come a Professor professes such fractious and silly ideas.

Can we fix what is well? Let us take USA model as we are runnign after that.Even a senator ahs to loof for his or her house. They come out to and receuve you.no linkg appointments. No servants. They drive cars themselves. They have more accopuntabilty and forceful citizens and media which can make their life hell.No bribes .No one knows about it.Forget top level polticial grants by indysry to presidnetial candidates.Their salries are not evehn 3 times of per capita of USA.Here in india?
Take china Model,Russian model, hgreman model?Indian babus and judges are most papemered, most corrupt, most unaccountable and secure.they dont deserve what they gave.Their demandinf pvt sector salries while having all good of civil services rule is really funny and sheer arrogance.Thye are welcome to quit.lacs of brillaint young, kment in india are waiting to take pver. Iam willing to world for 3 years with assyred 10 % better output in any department of choice of our dear manmohan.Flat rs 25000 salry and amodest flat. Why not have a try?Is our PM ready?Ima not retired neither old, mind you.there has to be logic.Courts are dragged in coyurts for decades shamlessly.ramopant corrup0iton and misuse of public vehicles for kitchen buying, holiday trips and bribery is going on.One class I in In india is already costinf directly rs 1 lac per month.

Dear Mr.Prof, Do you know how tough it is to pass civil service examination. I think you might be more than 60 years old. I think you're living in 1980. Come to 21st century. Do you know the risk they're taking in their day today lives. Do you know what they do? They must settle for Rs.15k -25k. you said you're ready for this post for 25k, which clearly shows that you might be above 60-65. you might be retired and don't know what to do at your home. It's better to read some spiritual books

Dear friend
For your information I am only 53 years old. I myself have cleared twice full UPSC board and ranked 3rd and 8th in two separate exams for Jr Cl I all India competiton.I also cleared & selected by more than 2 dz top public and private sector companies in 70s and 80s beginning. So I know what I am talking about. Just because they pass tough exam makes them eligible for corruption, kaam chori, high wages, perks and arrogance? They fight so tough as there are too many beggars for govt jobs right from police to IAS.It is demand and supply and money in it.Same way guys fight for 3000 MBA seats. It is time we stop aggrandising them.I also worked in Haryana government and ran office like private sector.I know how boneless and arrogant these guys are.I have been dealing with them for decades in center and states too. Don't give me this competency crap.Just knowing who was grandpa of babar or which prostitute danced in vaishali 300 BC has no link to competence. Our bad edu system. The UPSC exam fails to detect corrupt and crooks. They all talk big in interveiw "I want to join for country ,poor and service of people" like Miss worldswhen newly nominated talk and then they dance in movies and collect 50 lacs wages for each film.It is all hypocracy.I also talked like this but did not actually join any of these jobs. As I knew I can't do much .The system was rotten then and is more rotten now. They must expect salaries as per GDP ratio. Public service means what?rofits?Security?

Holidays for IAS officers
by Prem Mohan on Oct 11, 2007 07:31 PM  | Hide replies

All IAS officers should be allowed to travel to North Korea and Cuba to experience first hand the benefits of socialism/communism. At any cost, they should not be allowed to go to London, Paris or New York.

No one in india shopuld get more than 20 ties the per capita imncome uptom President level. In private sector this should not exceed 0.1% of net profits generated.I think indians are on a looting spree in nale of reofrms and liberalsiation.Nothing is reforming and noting is liberalsiign exceptm for loot and plunder.people must rise and demand action gainst polciemen, judges and babus.Enough is enough.

I do not understand this. Govt./PSU employees have full job security with no obligation to work. If they want private sector salaries and perks, why don't they resign their jobs and fend for themselves? Do they have the courage?

These Govt servants make money illegally (by taking bribe and taking cut on the project costs etc.,) where as a private sector guy has very little avenue for blackmoney resource.

Does Govt employees accept to stop taking Bribe?????????? Then they deserve a salary jump.
