if this thing goes on, then the day is not far away when we will find that in the busses there will be seats reserved for the backward classes.

I Agree
by Bhaskar on Apr 13, 2006 12:12 PM

yes, I Agree with the views expressed by Mr. Sengupta.
Giving green signal to these sorts of privilages will not benefit India but rather it will harm its entire education structure.

secondly, why to give this unwanted privilages? is there any need for doing so?
i don't think so there is any need for doing so because if a student is talented enough then he/she can easily crack the competitive exams. there is no need to reserve seat for him.

Thirdly, whether the act is not violative of Art 14 of our constitution which directly deals with Anti Discrimination?
It seems that our government itself has taken responsibility for spreading Discriminatary waves among the Indian community by "reserving seats for the backward classes", sorry it is " reserving seats for Undeserved". it is simply because giving reservation or favour to any people implies that he/she is not efficient enough to get that particular position.

lastly, why this favour is given to the SCs/STs or to the OBCs, why not to the general class? I don't think, general mass is getting any benefit rather they are deprieved or have to suffer the pain of disqualification for being a member of the general mass.

The policy is divide and rule:
divide people on basis of caste, religion and rule this nation. The rule that is successfull since british age.

one more thing: the yadav's n kurmi's and many other castes in OBC category are very strong in general political scenario and thats why enjoying the unfair benefits

Survival of the Fittest
by devanshu on Apr 13, 2006 11:23 AM

Hi there!!

Im 23 years old and working in a reputed MNC for the past 6 months.

I would like to share a revelation. I remember the time when I was preparing for the engineering entrance exams, and I would recall the numerous reservations in the colleges for the SC/SC/NT and the backward classes.

Being in the General/Open class category , I faced a lot of competiton everywhere . Now with the government increasing the quota to 50% has made me furious and depressed at the same time.

It is imperative that this does NOT happen as it would downgrade the entire higher education system. Come to think of the consequences , I fear not because of what I can think would happen , but beacuse the things I cannot even estimate would happen.

I believe that the basic primary education should be made available. The foundation should be strong but after that ALL should compete for the higher education..

This is going to be very disastrous for the entire education system of the country.

Please help people , think for the future generation to come.

Signing off in grief

Devanshu

caste versus merit
by Priya on Apr 13, 2006 11:12 AM

I fully convinced with the article. India is the only country in the world where our own politicians for the sake of votes introduced reservations. This is the only reasons why our country doesn't progress despite having brains, huge natural resources etc. Because wherever these ST/SC, are there system has gone down only. There are some economically weaker sections in upper class caste also, but they are deprived of these benefits of reservations. In my view there should not any reservation whether it is SC/ST, OBC and others. Govt. should give financial help to all the children of economically weaker section at the primary and secondary level by the way of giving good education, helpin them to become self independent etc so that they can compete with other children in getting higher education and jobs.

India shining

Hi
I truly appreciate the step taken by HRD to increase the reservation for OBC.People have a mindset that OBC and other reserved category people are not intellegent and not capable. But there ar students who are capable of scoring higher that the general merit students.the people who comes to the top institutions are equally good as the general merit students.I think reserving seats for OBC and other categories will not affect the quality of education. But this in turn will improve the quality of education life of overall population in india.people form depressed class should be given a chance to show the tallent.Givng the oppoutinity to depressd class will make india brighter.

Reserve IITs and IIMS to merited OBC students
by Ganesh on Apr 13, 2006 10:22 AM

In my opinion, reservations should be there only in preier institutions. After all these are the educational institutions that get most money from tax payers and should be used for public good and not for enriching some FII banks (that currently hijack best of brains from IIMs). Let the best brains study in mediocre institutes. They will still shine in life. By reserving the best institutions for the good-but-not-yet-great students, we will be giving the opportunity for these not-so-bad students also to shine in life. The mediocre institutions should not admit any mediocre students because mediocre+mediocre = disaster. Hence only brightest students should study in mediocre institutes because all they need is an institute to study - they don't need the best teachers or best facilities. So with reservations we will have much larger pool of greatly prepared students for the industries, rather than a very small pool of elite class, totally inadequate for such a huge nation. Instead od wasting energies in fighting reservations, fight corruption. Before angrily reacting to this message, please think it over.

Against Reservations
by Nalgirkar Shripad on Apr 13, 2006 10:21 AM

The article written here is a truth and fact.
If the people get selected because of there casts rather than there merit the India will sink to the bottom.
You can help the poor people (not based on cast but on economical conditions) by giving the scholarships to the meritorious students.
There are other ways than reservation to help the poor people those should be followed.
The reservation based on cast will increase the distance between the people rather than reducing and this may become a threat to the unity of the nation.
The politicians are using the same rule that was followed by the British people to rule this nation i.e. "Divide and rule". That is by dividing the nation on the basis of cast they want to retain the chair with them.
This is going to take India no where. The shining India will become brittle with these activities.
The qualities of our nation of like unity in diversity, bureaucracy etc. of which we are proud of will get demolished because of such shameful activities by the dirty politicians. They are doing this only for there votes so that they can make more corruption and money when they will come to the rule.
The space provided is very small to express
