This is a very dnagerous legacy we are carrying from 1920's. Many of our 'then veterans' had sounded the evil it would create in nation building. National interest comes a poor second or third as politicians are only interested in their own personal priorities.
We need a new "Avatar" or " masseiah" to eradicate this evil from our society. Till then enjoy the fruits of being "cast" into it.
I hail from the ethnicity that had been marked "FC" and had been made minority. I dont mind that. But, many of the people whom I knew, who were also financially downtrodden, also who were brilliant enough to complete a Professional Degrees, were denied an admission. In Contrast, I came across some so called BackWard Classes, who were stinking rich, were enjoying a previlige of free admission, no or minimal exam fees, free food, free eggs etc., and what not? They also had developed an attitude that they will get everything from the govenment, like admission to higher studies, a job in the government and etc.,
The FC guys, had to burn the midnight toil only to give away an admission by 0.1 or 0.2 marks. This is the main reason why there is a lot of brain drain in India. Many people do not want to work or study here. When is this going to change?
Why these meanly business is getting popular among the politicians. Most importantly, even the financially down BC people do not get the admission, and that is even pathetic.
Politicians, please grwo up. Do not be Selfish to the core. Do some good to India and Indians. India is never given a reservation anywhere in the world.
Woe that the dreams of the Indian Constitution makers for an egalitarian society will always remain a dream.
At the time the Constitution was enacted it was contemplated that sops in the manner of reservations will help uplift the socio-economic health of the backward classes in India. However, almost 40 years thereafter the State was compelled to give effect to the Mandal Commission report prepared in the 1970s.
The saga that followed is unforgettable inspite of desparate attempts to wipe it off from the socio-political canvas of independent India.
Nothing widened the divide as did the Mandal Commission report. The youth at that time and the ones that make the demographic profile of the youth today do remember the pictures that decorated front pages of most newspaper. Memories of 1989 when we were in our childhood is replete with the image of a Delhi University Student all in fire in protest.
The result of the adoption of the Mandal Report was the formation of new political equations which eventually lead to the downfall of V.P. Singh and commenced the upwards movement of the Bharatiya Janata Party as a national party and emergence of Laloo, Mulayam and Mayawati.
You said it right. But who is there to listen. Even PM is not heeding. At least we thought he has some sense. He too lokslike bogged down by caste consideration. No one with comonsense canunderstand the caste based divisionist ideology that all does possess cutting across political, regional and linguistic barriers. Alas it india we are divided within and divided in our heart, At the very heart of emotion we are divided. What holds Idia back is not the lack of resources, but the lack of willingess to get ahead by developing human resources and giving due consideration, acceptance and appreciation to merit. The other day i had a story from one of my professionally qualified boy from a lower caste tried to get funding for a private venture, but every where he faced only obstacles. Govt system promises but donot deliver. Promising itself is not meant to deliver but to adulterate, and cause further divide within and outside. But alas its India about whom and whose leaders we have to be proud about!
i was a poor student, got help from my teachers to my day to day expence and food too. But still i was treat as a rich officially because of caste. My freinds who where kids of middle class to upper middle class still availing all free hostel facilities money from government becasuse they born in lower caste.
Is caste is really determins the richness,brightness and efficiency.
Due to implementation of Mandal commission, I have all my life there after payed more that 300 % of money which i should have payed for my education. I was not able to get in a very good institution coz I was have only one mark less that the closing seat.
Where as SC , ST , OBC got in. I had 93 % but lost seat to a student who was SC and had only secured 45 % in his previous exam, and I had to go to a lower grade college.
This means who are above, get them down and who are down get them up.
But still I am Rich, and government accepts that we are in upper caste category and not in open category I have been given distinction to say that I am reside on a higher caste and can legally swear on lower castes.
I will make sure to give employment to those guys and abuse them everyday, just to get my ego cleared.
Used to feel that I am an Indian but from some last days it has changed me, and now my whole joint family comprising of 60 members who used to vote congress, will vote only BJP there after.
True, it is even shameful that we are providing SC/ST quotas in prestigious institutes of India like IIT/IIM etc, can we all indians work together to abolish the quota system in education and employment sectors?
