Calling the attention of all progressive-minded people!!
by Rama on Jun 16, 2006 01:57 PM

It would be absolutely foolish to imagine that our politicians will do the right thing for us Indians. Shall we all who oppose the current reservation policy get together and try to come up with a parallel education/employment system which doesn't have to conform to the foolish laws of our land? I am sure we will get tremendous support from many sections of our society and from abroad. Let's beat these politicians with courage and intelligence and rescue our country from falling into an abyss!

Reservation - way to discriminate ppl
by Ashish on May 28, 2006 05:00 PM

I agree with the views in this article.. I think with reservations we are only discriminating between ppl and individuals..and should be totally abolished.

With reservations I dont think we are getting any closer to being a developed nation, but moving back in time...

Lets get judged on MERIT and not on CASTE...
I am not sure how one can RESPECT HIMSELF/HERSELF securing the postion on CASTE and not on MERIT...

Indirect impact on OBC/SC/ST
by chaitanya on May 26, 2006 08:40 PM

i think the auther is absolutely correct, who will have an sc/st/obc surgeon put a knife on ones body. Iam very much sure that even sc/st/obc patient wudnt have the guds to do do. How long will life be a platter for them. tomorrow i interview a person i would make sure that i ask the caste certificate of the candidate. life has become even more tougher for the sc/st/obc candidates now. the congress divide and rule may have a direct impact on forward castes, but an indirect effect on these backward caste is not going to leave them for generations. I sometimes wonder if any politician in india can get peaceful sleep and death.

It is a shame for India
by Tom Joe on May 26, 2006 08:20 PM

The reservations are a shame on India which is moving to be among the top nations of world. Its a step drwing us back, and the government along with the politicians should be ashamed at diving the nation which waas united. President Kalam, the man of vision - what happened to him.....he should put his voice to oppose this unrequired n divisive policy of Arjun singh....

I support the students who are making thier voice heard....n making sarcifices for it....Hats of to them.

From worse ro worst
by SriHarsha on May 23, 2006 05:51 PM

It happens only in India, is what I wanted to say. You go on a hunger strike. Leave your duties, Strike against the government, the last that would happen is the quota system is implemented. We would all be busy with our daily activities.

The only solution is self realisation. We should realise our potential and the people from lower caste should pressurize the government to abolish reservation.

Until then nothing is going to happen and what is now going is waste of time
