Nonsense Article
by Sundar on May 20, 2006 08:18 PM  | Hide replies

It is very shameful for part on the country in which 2.1% of the total indian population dominate all the others. Since forward community people all had the previlege of getting educated atleast 100's of years ago whereas the OBC's, SC/ST are getting education for the past 25 years and so only they are educated, noth their realtives or previous generations. So this reservation will allo people to get education and that will develop the entire strata of the society. The country should be grateful for Mr.V.P.Singh, for bringing out the Mandal report. Tamil nadu is an excellent example of reservation. Tamilnadu is having reservation for OBC's for the passt 40 years and there is no dearth for talent in this state. Infact Tamilnadu is much better developed comapred to the So called North states which dosent have any reservations. Let us think and ensure that we have reservation for the development of the country.

Most of the parasites breed and flourish on rubbish that is why you call it arubbish article. Keep on justifying sucking the blood of merit holders at the codt of the mother land itself. Ask VPSingh to get himself treated by reserved proffessionals.

i totally agree with you. n i think its high time we do something about it.i live in pune & saw the paper in the morning.apparently,Sharad Pawar wants maharashtra to set an example for other states by implementing on Arjun singh's decision. That sucks big time man!he said that "young generation is not aware of the social implications of the proposal'.easy for him to say seeing he does not have to face it!

Reservations-nothing new
by devadas on Apr 20, 2006 03:26 PM  | Hide replies

Reservations are an atonement for the inhuman discrimination heaped on the majority of Hindus by a small minority for several millenia. The upper castes 'reserved' self respect and all the creamy jobs to themselves for several tousand years. This has to change.

As for 'merit' true merit will surface only when all have equal opportunities to acquire this so called merit.
In Tamilnadu the difference in cut off marks ( for admission to professional colleges)between the forward castes and OBCs have steadily declined.Reservation helps in quickly reducing caste gaps.
To abolish caste system let the upper castes make a start by dropping the caste suffixes from their names.

when do we grow and start using our brains than the system..caste system is only a political gimmick to all the weak politicians who play around with when they have no way out to be in the limelight.. please lets like ndtv start a poll system of all those who are against caste system.. the system should be on income basis than on the basis of castes.. let the governtment help all those who cant afford education rather than working on the age old system.. today world's in to wi-fi tech nology and what not.. but when it comes to these kinda things we are 500 years back.. please

CASTE VERSUS MERIT
by S.MARTIN on Apr 15, 2006 11:19 AM

I shocked to hear the views of IMA. If you say, reservations to OBC will affect quality in medical services, are you satisfied with the present quality of medical services in our country. Selling kidneys, cut practice in medical diagnostics and much more shameful things are already there and they can not be exits without the support of doctors. what IMA is doing to eradicate the same.First you try to eliminate this shameful things from your group of doctor's society and then worry about reservations and its impact.
