LongTerm Prospects
by Guruprasad on Feb 09, 2005 03:54 PM

Good article.Nowadays engineers are lured by the software companies and its short term prospects and quick money to the extent that nobody thinks about the longterm prospects of a career. The number of students pursuing post graduation has fallen down considerably over the last decade.

This is not Nice

Things which you have discussed in this article it's true. ya, 100% true. But don't you discourage the other dreamers who is doing MBA from other backgrounds and in other universities. Big companies like Wipro, Infosys, TCS are not only searching for MBA graduates with B.E background. You have demotivated 70% of the readers. And don't ever name them as dogs. be quite conservative.

Stupidest article
by Ganesh on Nov 18, 2004 02:34 AM

Hello,

This is the stupidest and just a Point-of-view article. With the boom of internet, crazy jobless people have become article writers. Any engineer can't do CS stuff anymore. Gone are those days. Study the course that interests you. As there is no formal ranking of indian universities (except IIT), you can't say one college is good over others. For a hardcore computer scientist/engineer, talent only matters. Rather than to be a type-writer in an IT company after a civil or mechanical degree, prefer to work in an automobile or a construction industry. Leave the CS jobs to CS people.

Programming ability does not need education
by Madhusudhanan on Oct 26, 2004 10:27 PM

First let me introduce to you, I am "J2EE Architect" for one the best software companies which is in the list of companies what "Rashmi Bansal" has told.

I am a B.Sc computer science graduate with a 2nd class, and I was a 12th std drop out . And I did my masters in distance education.Today I am a "cat" as her article goes, Its foolish on software companies(indian) to think that or to make people think that only B.E's or M.Tech's can do the coding, I feel that even a 10th std boy if given training can do development .All the indian software companies given in the list dont do a big R&D work, They provide end- to- end solution for a business which does not need much research ability. These software companies are the reason for the raise in engineering colleges in india.Engineers pass out more than 'ordinary' B.sc's today. All the companies mentioned in the list take engineers only for body shopping purpose, If the US consulate tomorrow says that even 12 the std fellow can apply H1orL1orB1 they will change the HR policies. So its a shame that these software companies stop all other industries from getting the quality resources for their cheap profit making game.

Partly true
by Rahul Sharma on Sep 09, 2004 06:08 PM

I agree to most of your points. But then even companies got to think that good brains lie in not-so-good colleges also. They should look at university's quality and not college's quality coz university is the one who rules everything. Many things are the factors. One of the prominent one is that nobody can generalise the rules of selecting institutions for hires.
