true to extent

The hype has been created, courtesy Media. But neither IIT's nor IIM's or any other place does what an indivisual offers to himself.

Ther is Far beyond IIM's & IIT's Part-B
by Vishnu on May 19, 2005 03:53 PM

The smooth execution of the work in any corporate can happen only through experience and not through so called % of Marks, generally it\\\'s been observed that since decades top B-School graduates are working in top corporates the same employees of the co. will prefer from their own B-School from were they have studied, irrespective of the candidate is efficient or inefficient, either he is relevant to the post or irrelevant,ie because of the strong alumini network, but this story is coming to an end,Now it\'s the time to wake-up to all the corporates to look in for experience either he/she from top B-schoolor Partime/ Distance Learning with experience, and It\\\'s the time to IIM & IIT\\\'s to produce entrepreneuer and not any jobholder, which keeps on searching for a relevant job for a higher package, which will be arranged by a corporate not so called IIT or IIM.

There is far beyond IIM'S & IIT's part- A
by Vishnu on May 19, 2005 03:50 PM  | Hide replies

In India Most of graduates are becoming crazy of IIM' & IIT's, the world is far beyond what is been taught in the four walls which we generally call as a class room in any of these institutes,
Name any top Industralists/ business man/entrepreneur of India or the world they are not from IIM's or IIT's
they are hard workers with sound logic,
In the practical world hardly 1% we may realise the significance of the so called aptitude tests which are conducted by some of the top corporates of india,

Definatelly, i am fully agree to the mindset that about 99.99 % indians (mostly small city) has.

if you are not doing engineering or medical , you are treated in sosity as a person doing nothing.
i have done B.Sc. and experienced this the entire three years.. it leads to frustration also in so early age.

so we should try to change the mind set ...really there are lot of things beyond IIT and IIMs.

Jay

not the correct picture
by Anustup Ray on Mar 24, 2005 10:06 PM

The author did not emphasise the fact that the engineers who turn up in support services(let's not call it call centre because it is a very vague term and there is lot more to it than just speaking over the phone)actually are the toast of that industry and that in turn is making the industry so lucrative that it is today the highest revenue earner. the truth is that people in this industry should take pride with the work they do.only then will this industry redeem itself n thousands working there.

a very biased article: part two
by Arijit on Mar 09, 2005 02:43 PM

the entire system is bitten by iT bug, mould young brains into software machines and pay them a fraction of the western salary only to produce softwares for the super rich western clients!!It is ironic that even the core branch people are jumping to software to escape the stressful environment of core branches. Not to blame them. Only our goverment and the management of core engineering based companies are to be blamed. poor compensation, lack of motivation, slow career growth, floutation of labour norms and polluted environment ( people working in unimaginably hazardous conditions ). These are non existent in the west and that makes work enjoyable. no matter what u study you are respected. Cant we implement the same in india?why do we think small ?In india , Bsc students are looked down upon by engineers and IIT people look down upon non IITians. A labourers job is like a taboo( condidered absolutely pathetic). a person may join engineering for a quick settle even if he has the aptitude for medical. Cant we implement the same in india?why do we think small ?

Arijit Dutta
a very biased article: part one
by Arijit Dutta on Mar 09, 2005 02:24 PM

it is really a shame what is happening to engineering in india .The article is also quite disgusting. The article is actually encouraging the young people to join engineering just to become software engineers!.total shame..maybe the author is also riding the IT bandwagon. But he is not to be blamed completely.Indian Media and economic experts are too much hyping the IT Revolution in india.and india takes pride to be on this technological front and speculates on overtaking the developed world. This is never going to happen . watch the developed countries and find out what makes them developed. Are they bragging about their IT development?..No..But most of the super companies in the west and far east are realted to Automobiles, airlines, banking, electronics, food ,oil and petrochemical, contruction and young people are too keen to join these companies as well as IT because all these industries pay almost the same salary to engineers. The article reflects the disgusting but realistic mindset of the young people:study engineering to join TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS.
