This is indeed need of the hour, to make the right progress depend on their income level.. As we are having many multi millionairs sons enjoying same benefits that supposed to be given poor people.
so our reservatio system should be based on income level only

I know a case in a reputed engineering college in karnataka one lecturer was regularly beaten by students for misbehaviour in hostel. That lecturer was a reserved class fellow. He did not even have the commonsense that he is a teacher. He would trouble everyone in the midnight by screaming very loud, beating buckets, hitting others room doors, throwing kachra into others rooms, doing all such things paralelly in the midnight. He used to do this along with one non teaching staff. After hours of such drama one could see all kachra strewn on the corridor floor. He would keep a chair, keep something on it, garland it with kachra and flowers and scream very loud, beating buckets etc for hours in the midnight. while doing this he would also repeatedly beat others room doors and throw kachra into their rooms from the top ventilator. Reservation should be removed altogether. If you dress up a pig well, carry it in your arms like your baby, the moment the pig sees kachra it will forget everything and jump into it.

Reservation end to it

The ‘Reservation’ has been introduced in our system to bring underprivileged to mainstream and equality in the Society. Once an underprivileged gets opportunity, he may be considered to be part of mainstream; his son/daughter should not be considered as SC/ST/OBC for getting preference in job. New job opening under reservation should be given to another underprivileged/needy and not to decedents of person who have already got job under reservation. This would help to bring equality in the Society. In longer run say 50-100 years we will not need reservation in our system at all.

My question to the self professed VC is that if income based reservations exists then there is no need to struggle for the students and parents. Call it Education subsidy. All poor pupils will queue up at Bharatidasan Main gate will the VC admit them. This article is totally racist and opiniated; rediff should refrain from such poor articles in future. Very poorly resourced and ill informed, India is not the only nation to provide reservation basis ethnic origin, gender and aboriginal rights.

And so caste and religion should be the sole determining factor.Excellent. Year after year from one generation to other SC/ST/OBC students with same economic capability/going to the same schools / coaching centers and then just because of reservations show the card to bypass the merit queue and kill the dreams of the rest just because they are 'general'.They will just continue to line up before govt to get all the subsidies and jobs and leave the general caste to perish with frustration. Brilliant !

The vice chancellor is very much right in demanding for income based reservations. The current generation of India should not suffer for the mistakes of a few leaders like Nehru and Gandhi's. They have no idea at that point of time, what the havoc the caste based reservation can cause to the country and which in turn, was used as a vote bank politics with cheap political gains at the cost of innocent poor people. Reservations should only and only given to financially weaker section of citizen of all caste and religion, will improve our Socioeconomic fabric of our great country.

As we have passed at least 2 to three generations after independence, Yes it's the time we should call off community based reservation. It should be purely based on deserving candidate & money should not be hindering factor for any one. Identity of any person should be by name & nation. It is a "Right to grow" for every child. It's our nations right by freedom fighters to have a "Quality Generation". What is required is a bold step to remove differentiating identity right from birth & school level.

I agree with your logical statement. Already we have passed two to three generations, what is the need for reservation. Can you answer the simple question, why we are carrying the caste system? Dissolve the caste first, reservation will automatically disappear.

Reservation in first place-for jobs/education- is itself a matter of great controversy. In India it has proved a double edged sword.

Rather, studies upto 12th standard can be put under reservation based on different parameters. Thereafter, graduation, higher studies, jobs- all must go to deserving students. Today, it is common to find students of SC/ST/Minority category with poor knowledge easily get into good medical, engineering, management & other institutions. This proves a great loss to all & everyone. Even SC/ST have priorities at govt jobs. Why ? Quality & efficiency is bound to get affected if these candidates are not upto the mark. So the only way for overall prospect would be ELIGIBILITY. reservation can be availed upto a level wherein all are given equal treatment & importance. Thereafter it is upto the eligible candidates to flourish on his/her own talent. There would be no discrimination to anyone. No general category students can be punished at the cost of SCs/STs/Minorities. This is nothing but a part of the vote bank policy.
