Fake News?

Has some competitor corrupted some rediff correspondent to publish news like that ? Because one defected piece can not be the product evaluation basis.

It is your bad luck you got a faulty Akash. I had a similar experience 8 years ago when I bought a JVC 5 DVD home theatre system. I got it exchanged with a another one of the same brand and model. For the last 8 years it has not given me any problems. Going by your logic, I should not have picked up the same model!

However, you do have a genuine complaint that you have not got a response from the manufacturers. We have the Consumer courts just for this. They are efficient.
Stop grumbling.

There are 171 such stories.. They must all be out of luck.. What you call Aakash is sold in Taiwan for under $50 but it has Taiwanese workmanship and not assembled in India and does work for what its worth. India's Aakash is a phony story where a Canadian is cheating the Indians because India's MHRD does not know how to think

understanding of Indian problems and Indian budgets have to do so. Even if they fail they must be given a chance. The more such companies that are given a chance the more success stories we shall see. Even though I have no respect for this congress govt, I commend Kapil Sibal for giving such a project a chance

Raaj,

I agree with Ravi here.It is my Taxpayer money that the Indian Govt is throwing at all these wasteful projects. All they had to do was negotiate a Bulk order with a established Android Tablet vendor and they could have gotten much better (& more long-lasting)quality at this price.

So Raaj why don't you pay for all the Aakash tablets and make the Canadian who is cheating the Indians rich? Aakash is a hoax man! A better version is available cheaply in Taiwan for less.

Aakash has potential to be next Maruti story
by Pavana Suresh on Jan 08, 2012 08:27 PM  | Hide replies

When I see Aakash I am reminded of the Maruti story. Everyone said it would fail but look at Maruti today. We cannot always depend on the west to design technology for the Indian market. Indian companies with understanding of Indian problems and Indian budgets have to do so. Even if they fail they must be given a chance. The more such companies that are given a chance the more success stories we shall see. Even though I have no respect for this congress govt, I commend Kapil Sibal for giving such a project a chance.

The one positive thing I see for India, is that compared to the previous generations more and more people are willing to take chances. And that can only result in more success stories than ever before.

Maruti story? Are you that old? Maruti was manufactured by Suzuki in India. Suzuki created a whole new world by doing things right. Aakash is Ah Kaash! Its a fraud played by MHRD on India's poor students!

Suzuki created a whole new world in India. Did they achieve the same anywhere else in the world? Do they have market leadership anywhere else in the world? Why did this happen? Because they solved India specific problems on Indian budgets and the government made them move their manufacturing and technology over time to India. If its upto ppl like you manufaturing & R&D will always be done abroad. Dont be a professional pessimist. Give Indians a chance to prove themselves and they will.

Agree to you. If we do a cost analysis of a aakash, we'll see that they too are making a decent profit out of it. Well no comparison with apple since there margin is that high that they became the worlds most cash rich company. Its no secret that apple products are always on the upper side in their grade. What aakash is doing is providing alost 40% of the same feature with 60% less price. why to make a fuzz out of it...
