In Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (Bhopal),Valentine's day was celebrated, with the director taking the initiative.Boys and girls were asked to register. They were paired astrologically,by determining compatibility based on the zodiac signs. The pairs were separated. Each girl was asked questions, her answers were checked to match with the boy's answers. The pair with the best compatibility was to be proclaimed.Sample question:What is your response when you found that your boy friend failed to keep his date with you,but was seen with another girl?Of course, the programme was a fiasco, with the audience shouting uncontrollably after each question was asked, giving no chance for any answer to be uttered.I walked out in disgust, ignoring our director's glares directed at me.
I hate this day because I get one or other problem from my family or my girl friends' on this day only. Even many times from my girl friends too. All other days are very cool and enjoyable.
The first time I heard about Valentine's Day was when I was in the first year of College (1998)... Or maybe that was the first time that I realised that there was something like it (my hormones might have had something to do with that). And what a concept... It was touted as the day when if you went ahead and proposed to a girl she would not get angry (maybe say no), would not complain to the police/my parents/princi. WOW. One more thing was that the greeting cards were supposed to be sent as anonymous. There would be no name of the sender - but lots of hints were allowed. So, a person's popularity could be measured by the number of cards received. Again WOW. What a way to make someone feel special. And the third one was that Love can also be brotherly love, motherly love, fatherly love daughterly love, "sonly" love, etc. (any type which can be expressed by cards, I guess). Another BIG WOW. I never told my parents that I loved them... But would certainly love my kids to tell me so. What if such a day makes a family come together, closer, happier? Wonderful. I agree that it has been crassly over commercialised... But then what hasn't been? From The Lord Of The Rings (which was initially a series of books) to the Lord of the Seven Hills. If Art and Religion could be commercialised then what is wrong in commercialising the most popular of all feelings... Love (and its more evident but less accepted twin - Lust). And commercial success is certainly fo
there is nothingwrong in this as even indian customs like rakhi and karava chauth have now become commercialised. let people celebragte whatever the occassion. let us not curse othersw let us enjoy otheres happiness
Yes, I do agree that I hate this day of Valentine day because since my school days till today I have always face bad things in my life during this day. I dont know whether its in my stars or not but every year I had some or the other incident happening. Specially my family had a big set back on this day for so many years....Lets see what happens tommrrow in 2011 for me.
actually first i thought this was not ok then i finally realized that things happen without our control.......so let be as it is.....maximum you can pray to God and hope things go well....if it does not go that way then leave it as it is.
